Re: anyone ever used these?

Did consider them on recent service on my `98 1.9 auto but decided to stick with handbook recommendation NGK BKR 6 EK, which is also NGK site recommendation. Book also gives Bosch F7 LDCR as alternative. Old plugs were NGK BKR 6 EK and were in the car when I got it (10k miles ago) so don't their tru...

Del, The scale is 0 t 1000 and shows full green bar at zero. I posted the question on another forum and got a reply from a guy whose business is diagnostics and mapping that the value is not the important factor it is the difference between the readings ( i.e the closer together the better). :o :?

INPA `smoothness'

Help - have been playing with my new BMTecnics diagnostic toy and wonder if anybody knows how they work out the `smoothness' figures. With a warm engine mine have come up as 64(No 1), 71(No 3), 193(No 4) and 260 (No2). No engine errors are reported but I have yet to do a service. Car is a '98 1.9 Z3...

Re: Sill Removal for Inspection

Look at Z3cade's link above - it is a very good procedure which I followed for my inspection and repairs. You need to take the wheel arch liners out to get at the void behind them. Bit fiddly but not difficult to do.

Re: Sill Removal for Inspection

Hi, I have recently done mine and it is a straightforward methodical job. There was minor surface rust inside the sills and on the subframe - all easily treated. The surprise area was inside the wing panel which has to be removed as part of the sill removal. The problem was the sealant had hardened ...

Have had similar problem refer to http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=33103 and advice from Aceman. Wonderloaf - refer to my earlier comment on boot clip and hinge - we had the same symptoms where opening closing boot seemed to either create or reset problem. Took awhile for the penny to drop before I found exact cause.

Re: Central Locking Dead :o(

If the boot wiring loom has come out of the retaining clip where it enters the boot then it is highly likely that the hinge has acted as a rather blunt guillotine - hence `crunchy' feel. Our remote central locking was still working but very erratic on passenger door - when I opened up the sheath in ...

Easily fixed with silicone sealant - I used Glanville Silicone Sealant from Halfords. Did passenger side over 2.5 years ago and no problem since - drivers side just done. I didn't need to take plug out - just dried it out with hot air blower and squeezed silcone in all the way around the plug using ...

Looks great. Did a trip this year to Sicily but sadly not in the Zed - fitting luggage, German Shepherd and wife in (she insisted on coming) would have been a problem. Re: Drivers side Wing Mirror fell off

Hi - both of ours were a problem when we had the doors re-sprayed - supposedly a common fault. Body shop injected a sealant/cement to fix them back in position - needed ~24hrs to fully cure. Have been ok for 2 years now but obviously it's a rigid fix (cheap and quick). I have read a thread somwhere ...

stubborn wheel nuts

Have had same problem - Gary is probably right but if you use an extended bar use it with a socket and not standard wheel nut wrench. Problem is with the force required the wrench is likely to slip and round wheel nut edges - been there done it and only just got away with it!

Remote locking problem solved

You were correct. Clip on boot cable had failed and hinge had badly squashed the cable, damaged the outer sheath and completely severed white and blue/grey cables which feed boot lock motor. Temporary repair made and working ok. Other cables seem Ok. Thanks again for advice.

1998 Z3 - remote locking problem

When we bought our Z3 18 months ago the remote locking of the passenger door only operated intermittently but there was no problem with key locking. We were advised this was due to lack of use and after a month it settled down and has operated perfectly until this week. Initially the audible stopped...
