Thanks very much Dave. I think it might be a question of needing different cable (D-can?) for the later Mini...I'd hoped that as it's a 56 plate it would come under the 2007 limit for the cable I have. I'll email just to get confirmation though, thanks again.

Yes there is a drain plug, the refill plug is a bit awkward to get to, so find a length of tubing to run to the engine bay from the gearbox, then a cheap funnel to help direct the oil. Make sure you can undo the refil plug before draining the gearbox. ;)

Had you reset the car's 'adaptations' as I think you need to do this when replacing certains parts/sensors, so the ECU can 'learn' the new characteristics? Best you can do is check carefully all the wiring and particularly the connectors. If need be, unplug them (ignition off first!) and clean the connectors with a contact cleaner which you can get from Maplins or most likely Amazon/Ebay. Looking good now. If you put the protective film on the bonnet/front end, then be aware that it's quite visible to see where it stops IMHO. Mine had a yellow (or was it orange? :oops: ) label on it. From this label I confirmed that it had the 'lifelong' type oil that in theory didn't need changing. Thanks Heath, I'll be looking for a source for a good sensor now I reckon. I just ordered my polybushes for the front wishbone rear bush, so hopefully sort out a few issues with the car to get it really running spot on. :)

Bought them off Ebay, £17 each plus £3.50 postage. As I've read how easy it is to fit the polybushes once the old bits are removed, I though I'd save the hassle of removing the old bush from the carrier. The £40 cost is easily offset by not paying any labour as I can do this myself. http://cgi.ebay....

I've just bitten the bullet and ordered some Powerflex bushes for my front wishbone rear bush. I also ordered two carriers to make the changeover easier. The existing carriers look in a bit of a state, so I'll just be able to cut straight through them with my angle grinder, then fit the replacements...
