Boot lock cable snapped-lid now opens fully!

So I managed to have a good look today. The cables are all intact and boot lock works fine. I found the something that was rattling around in the boot lock area and after maneuvering the boot with the brake light inside cover off this little grommet fell out - it seems that it was somewhere blocking...

On non M it was an option. My 2.8 has it listed as an option a winter pack of sorts which heats the windscreen washers, drivers side lock and both mirrors (constantly regardless of ambient temp in the case of the mirrors, not sure of the rest).

Re: Boot lock cable snapped-lid now opens fully!

Good tip, yes I think it's the cable that's snapped (and was snagging before hence not opening fully). I've blocked the locking mechanism with a cloth in the meantime until I can have a proper look tomorrow. It's great having a fully opening boot lid, might wire it up to act as an air brake with thi...

Boot lock cable snapped-lid now opens fully!

I was working in the boot today and must have pushed it open a bit too far - a loud bang followed by the boot opening to a full 90degree angle. Looking at the bootlid open full I thought, finally the boot opens properly like it should! http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o759/Dino_DD/Mobile%20Upload...

Sorry just saw your post now, I also bought one a month or so back, posted about if but it may have been on the other z forum, it's all a blur when using tapatalk.

At this price not worth messing with dented/rusty secondhand bits and the drivers side ones always seem worse for some reason!

I used windscreen sealer (not bond) when I installed my roof a few weeks ago. 2 beads of it and so far it's not leaked. You can undo the bolts slightly and with the help of a friend get a tube of sealer and a nozzle into the space and run a nice continuous bead along and it will never set, always r...

Only my opinion but 2-2,5k is 2.8 money and way over the odds. There is a 2.8 facelift with hardtop for sale now on here at just over 3k. Sell the hard top and the car costs you just over 2k.
