Door threshold trim clips and some replacement self tappers for the sills and arch liners to replace a couple I broke when cleaning and waxoyling the sills. Also renewed insurance £141 fully comp no extras wife as named driver.

It is as the others have stated a signal amplifier, it has a 12v live feed to it so care needed when disconnecting or connecting the unit. Yes always use axle stands usually leaving the trolly jacks in place as a back up. If I am going to crawl underneath I use a pair of ramps to get the car high enough, always feels safer than the axle stands. Snap, I have one of these, got it after my alternator started to fail and had to be replaced. Ideal for monitoring the output by simply plugging it in the cig lighter socket. I see the Amazon link is over 4 quid, got mine off ebay for 1.99.

How old is the battery? If the charger failed then quite possible for the battery to die due to old age especially in this cold weather here in UK. Maybe not cold where you are so its probably down to age of battery and failed charger. The draw on the battery would be the clock and the radio memory ...

I think you may have identified the problem from what you say about the aircon never having worked. Good chance if its not been working bacteria has grown inside and is giving off the smell you experience particularly when the car itself is running hot. That sounds hopeful, check what the alternator is putting out when you get your volt meter it may have been a dodgy connection with the plug not fully home. Keep your eye on the warning light as well to see if it solved that.

If you get the BM Cable Inpa Interface it is fitted with a USB cable so a serial port is not required.

You should be good to go with the code reader you have ordered by plugging into the 16pin socket under the steering wheel, but bear in mind this socket only reads some of the engine module, nothing else. Agree with BladeRunner, check for codes set to point you in the right direction, possible Cam sensor or gummed up idle control valve are possible causes. If its the Camshaft sensor then I would expect to see codes. If its the idle control valve then take it off and clean it by spraying carb cleaner ...

Sounds like some confusion here regarding sensors/pressure switches
Oil level sender is in sump, oil pressure switch is as NZ00Z3 says under the inlet manifold on the 4 pot

Check the wiring connection to it and the cable for damage before replacing it, may be bad connection causing your light.

Glad you sorted it, most likely loose or duff connection, its quite common for the light to get triggered with movement of the cables or plugs under the seat, its not just a BMW thing, happens on other makes as well. Lets hope it stays out now.

Loom = The actual cable run from the plug back to where it joins into the main wiring loom, just check for any damage where it may have been crushed or cut by the seat being moved and it was in the way.

Without going out to the car to check I think you should be able to find them by looking into the front of the car with the bonnet up beyond the power steering cooling loop pipe, you may be able to get a spanner on the single fixing bolt through there as well.

I have the BC Cables kit for my 1999 1.9, it connects to my Laptop via the 20pin socket using the 20pin - 16pin obd2 cable that you may have to buy separately. Laptop needs plenty of Disc space if you are going to load all the software that comes with the kit. Hardest part is getting it installed on...

Must be an autumn thing, had to get replacements for mine after nearside one failed and started to loose water out of the tiny hole. Did have a poke about and a good blow with an airline and got it to work again so haven't fitted the new one yet.

Have you tried swapping the other window switch over from the working window to see if its a duff switch?
