Al Not sure it would reset itself with battery disconnected, some one will be along to answer that one I'm sure. As you had the throttle body off double check all the hoses for air leaks, that could be a reason for rough idle. Plug your code reader in to see if it's set any codes which may be a clue...

Could be due to an air leak, as you have had the head apart recheck all the air hoses are sealing with their hose clips and none have holes or splits. If hoses look good then take off the Idle Control Valve and give it a clean with carb cleaner let it drain and dry before refitting it. See if that r...

First check the drain tubes at each side of the hood pivots are not blocked, previous posts on these. Probably best way of checking would be to remove the seats and get someone to spray a hosepi...

Give them a good polishing using Brasso or Silver polishing fluid, probably best used with a small electric mop, cheaper than a kit and good results, I have used the method on motorcycle screen to get rid of scratches with good results.

OK the high mileage would lead me in the direction of worn valve guides but you say no smoke when you have been followed, if it is valve guides you are more likely to see smoke on the over run when decelerating as oil would be passed by the valve stems and burnt in the cylinders. My guess would be Maf, and or exhaust sensors or cat contributing to bad emissions.
