Re: Door Mirrors that won't fold back!!!!!!

If not twisted regularly over the years - corrosion bonds them in place and the cast Aluminium is very brittle. Hi BonBon. Thank you again. I have only recently acquired the car but after a washing and waxing exercise it is amazing what you see. My guess is exactly that as you suggest. Indeed the p...

Hi BonBon. As per the topic title - it is the drivers seat that is the issue.

Hi BonBon. Thank you - but are they just bloody tight or is bonding the favoured bodge because of the expense in getting new and the risk them getting bashed again?
Is there an upgrade out there to a retractable variety from say a Z4?

Re: Driver seat hight adjustment - won't!!!!!!

You'll need to remove the seat (after disconnecting the battery) and lower the chair manually (after disconnecting the "height" gearing). In a recent thread I posted pics of the 90degreee gear the is knackered on mine. Hi BonBon. Thank you,I am aware of that after earlier help/advice from the forum...

Hi to you all out there. WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started off by getting 4 new Maxxis Victra 225/50 x 16 ZR MA Z1 directional tyres fitted and it was pointed out that I had a weeping shocker. Two days later a new front OS shock absorber was replaced under warranty from the dealer that I bought the car ...

Door Mirrors that won't fold back!!!!!!

Hi to you all out there. My Z3 has door mirrors that are either very very tight or are bonded in the use position. I am reluctant to give them any more than a attempt to fold back. Is it that they do not fold back? The base plate on the passenger door looks as though it is aluminium and is suffering...

Hi to you all again. Well my seat is refusing to move and is still in the high position. It has had a good soaking with WD40 and it is still not for moving. Other option is to get yours retrimmed, £105 from Royal steering wheels. I went double thick with perforated sides and M stitching, I thought if it still felt too big I would sell this and buy a smaller one, but it is bang on, feels chunkier and therefore somehow smaller. http://www.zen104526.zen.c...

Re: A smaller diameter steering wheel for my Z3.

I don't think that is true. The only part of an airbag which might be perishable is the bag itself. The mechanism which creates the gas is an electro chemical reaction and the elements involved are very stable until an electrical current is passed through the system to ignite the reaction. The fabr...

Re: A smaller diameter steering wheel for my Z3.

I have to say that the Z4 steering wheel does look nice in the Z3. Big steering wheels seemed to be common in German cars of the time. My Porsche 928 S4 wheel was huge, and ugly. But that car also had speed sensitive power steering, so it was not necessary to have such a big steering wheel. Hi ligh...

Re: A smaller diameter steering wheel for my Z3.

You can fit a single stage airbag to a two stage system by simply putting a resistor in line with the 2nd stage circuit so you don't get error codes which would deactivate the system completely. Have a read of my thread in the knowledgebase here which explains it all in depth with pics ....... http...

Re: A smaller diameter steering wheel for my Z3.

There are 2 types of driver airbag fitted... the earlier Z3 cars had what is called a "single stage " airbag... ie in a collision the bag would inflate... Your car has a dual stage airbag... this is a system whereby the airbag is inflated in 2 different ways... 1. low impact collision and 2. high i...

Hi, before you start to worry about electric connections, seat removal or tilting please read on. Think yourself Lucky that the seat is stuck in high as this will give you much more room to spray WD 40 (plenty ) on all metal in sight. Worked for me, stuck on high and with cluncking from motor. Re: A smaller diameter steering wheel for my Z3.

You have a dual stage system on your face lift car so bear that in mind. It means you can fit either a single or dual stage wheel but read the posts on doing it. Ideally you want smaller and thicker which is why the 340mm raid wheel is ideal. Hi Jontt. Thank you for that info but please pardon my i...
