Swindon. If you can afford a couple of hundred quid then get something with under 100k on it. That's generally considered 'low' or at least lower mileage for a Z3 these days. The BMW extendable warranty is excellent. My brother has one on his 1 Series. It costs him £600 per year and covers everything apart from service items, even wear and tear. It covers any age car and keeps going until 120,000 miles I think it is. Haven't ever seen a comparable warranty with any other...

If you can do a ball joint then changing an engine is just a series of jobs of a similar order of complexity :)

But it will be a fairly long one if you've never done it before (you and me both, I'm about to do a 2.2).

You cant buy this paint pre-mixed there is no code for it. Easy option is to go to a paint factors and they can put the colour gun in it. In my experience these things can start off at one price and can quickly escalate, especially if you are not a mechanic and not doing the job yourself. £300 will get you a low mileage engine from a salvage yard. These engines are very common and normally very reliable so as a consequence people struggle to sell them. Do you sit on a booster cushion or something? I'm also 6ft and although my head is over the top of the seat, it is definitely well below the roll hoops. Personally I wouldn't put anything other than OEM in.

That said I do wonder how much protection roll bars offer in a crash. I'm 6ft and my head sticks out well above the roll bars. I guess they help protect the car from crumbling and you are meant to duck at the sight of impending doom.
