Rear Window Defrost/demist

Soo...this might just be a trait of the Z3 being a softtop... but is the button in the middle of the seats that looks like a demist button, actually supposed to demist the window? i havent looked very closely into what it does or should do......obviously there isnt the normal heater element in the w...

Re: Coupe tramlining

Thought that is what you all meant... umm all cars do it to some degree, like the wiki link says some are worse than others. its impossible to make cars ignore the bumps and grooves in the road. why do you think racing cars go over the kerbs? its because they want the effect of the kerb to pull the ...

Re: Coupe tramlining

So you mean wandering around on a straight Road?
Or just over bumps?

Do they tend to have bump steer?

Re: Coupe tramlining

Can you be more specific as to what you mean by tramlining?
To me I've only had this ever on motorways in lane one?

Re: Tyres.

just buy a brand youve heard of...
the expensive brands are just expensive, not better.
they own the cheaper brands too...... if you was an expensive brand, youd want a cheap brand too so you covered all the market wouldnt you?

Coolant

Its nearly winter... and since i dont know the exact history of my car, its probably best to changed the coolant.

had a look about and the BMW stuff seems ridiculously expensive! so what do you use?
and how much do you need for a 3.0?

Re: Clunk when changing gears

Thanks for replies. More I drive it the more it's definitely front of car.
And first is a little hard to get sometimes so it's interesting about the clutch hose comment.
My guess is I've got two things going on.

Caliper Bolts

Changed the front discs and pads to get rid of a horrible "oh sh** im not going to stop feeling" turns out only one of the pads was moving in the caliper and the other was just bending and hardly touching the disc! anyway, the Pagid pads seem fine and can cram them on nicely. but..... one of the cal...

Clunk when changing gears

My 3.0 makes a clunk when changing up.
More noticeable in lower gears when you put clutch in.
And sometimes when you let it out again.
Doesn't seem to be throttle dependant as can't make it happen without using the clutch.
It could be many things and I have my ideas but anyone had a similar thing?

Re: Emissions? bent pipe failure

had a better look today, doesnt look like any air is going through that pipe, hot or cold. the pump kind of ticks rather than makes a pumping sound.... so i guess thats fried anyway! soon as i get chance ill make a plate and remove the lot im guessing the rest of the vacuum pipes (little ones) are e...

Re: Emissions? bent pipe failure

Thought as much. Seems pointless to carry the weight of it around for just start up. I'll remove it tomorrow when it stops raining.

New pipe is something like 45 quid!!!

Emissions? bent pipe failure

so, on my 2001 Z3 3.0 this pipe is pretty much useless, its got hot/old and feels a little like blue tac!

pretty sure this is just the emissions re-circ pipe? so i could remove it? and plug it up?
but, is that a good thing? anyone done it before?
