Code readers?

I've been looking and seems to be quite a few differant ones around, looking at the simple handheld type to check and clear engine codes, what are people using and where did you get them from and how much :?:

Thanks for all the replies :) looking at the map, what about the A68 from just north of Darlington and runs across Northumberland National Park, looks direct but don't know what the roads like? Just been up to Fife (Kettlebridge on the A914 just past Glenrothes) to help son finish off some jobs in ...

M6 will be the fastest route but the A1(M) will be the more scenic route, depends if you are pushed for time or you can cruise at leisure.

Best route to Scotland?

We're off to Scotland for a wedding/mini break over the coming weekend(in the Zed)traveling up to Warwickshire first to visit friends then on to Glenrothes in Fife, question is which is the best route? M6 or A1(M)?
I've done both before but a long time ago!

Door mirror wiring

A question for those who've had their door mirrors apart, is the wiring there for heated mirrors? not that I want to fit any but wanted to know if theres some spare wires at the mirror head for a project I'm thinking about.

Been out today and first impressions were clutch a lot smoother with a better biting point but not a lot of difference in gear change, still notchy into 2nd and 4 th, but after a few miles obviously the oil got around the box and now much better!! What size socket?

I've replaced the gearbox fluid with Amsoil synthetic and blead the clutch but when it came the diff I hadn't got a tool for the drain/filler plugs, what size hex socket do I need ?

I'm going to see the gear change is like and then decide about the CDV.

Looking to do this mod soon and I've heard you have to be careful not to drop the slave cylinder pushrod into the bellhousing :shock: is this true and are there any tips to stop it happening :?:

Nice! But a soft top is not just for the summer, it's for all year round! I drive mine roof down all year around (unless it's raining heavily & then not always) .. even drove from Stockholm to Åre to go skiing with the roof down all the way (in an MG). Mind you it did not get any colder than -20C ....

22k since I picked her up on Sept 1st 1999, original pilot sports on the front but the rears have been replaced :lol:

I use a Son of a Gun silicon spray on all my door and roof seals on a regular bases, I start to get what sounds like rattles inside the car when the seals start to dry out.

Also had a clatter on rough roads, turned out my front strut brace was loose.

Cool number plate 8-) the only referance I have to "the man" on my car is I make sure my staff parking permit number every year is 007 :lol:

Just checked Euro car parts as they've got 25% off at the moment and they do a Fabi Bilstein one for £58 or a "replacement" one for £28 :!:

Must do some more investigating :|

I can't comment on the 912s, but love the 452s, but not in snow and ice :shock: I've fitted Kumho winter tyres for the second year, which are great, including an exciting but safe drive back from a rural restaurant in yesterday's heavy snow. I've got an ongoing problem with one of mine and I replaced the inlet with one off E-bay and though it cured the glich @ 1500rpm it gave me stalling and non start problems so I put the old one back in. I'm on my second set of OE trims and I've always fitted them with the screws faceing down, and take them off regularly to clean.

My second set fitted easier than my first set did.

Yes as of Saturday, was a bit gutted that the weather was nice all weekend but it'll be shity soon.

Used to tax mine all year a get some great crisp sunny winter days but mines a toy and if I'm going to hang onto it in the currant climate savings have to be made.

Thought it might be you, I said to the wife that there was a Z1 in Torquay. I was a member for three years when I first got the zed in 99 but there was never anything going on in the southwest so packed it in, may have to revisit that. Mines off the road for the winter now, had a nice drive on Frida...
