I checked mine and they are OK, [2002 3.0L] The trim on your air bag looks as if it could be repaired with an adhesive, the vent may need a bit of gentle heat and 4 hands to ease it back into shape.

Yes it depends where you are, always leave windows up, The only time I had any problems was with a Jag XK 150, left with hood up, and some one slashed it with a knife.

Regarding oil types, I came across some info on the net that said for double vanos engines it could not be recommended strongly enough that LL01 just had to be used, [unfortunately I did not record the link], such as edge, softec or longtec in the castrol range with the tappet operation you mention ...

Mike, For the 3L, and I assume the 2.8L would be the same I thought the M54 tappets were mechanical not hydraulic?? But on checking found this description [Valve drive Cup tappets with hydraulic valve play compensation] So I assume you adjust as normal with shims but what is meant by compensation???...

As Deano1712 said above it does look like they were overtightened, the bolts still have some aluminium in the threads, don't disturb it. take your present mileage and don't drive any more, over here the consumer would be fully covered, I guess you would be also. if they have used loctite this would ...

Did they balance them? does the s/wheel kick side to side? if so see if increasing speed makes any difference, you may be able to drive through the wobble, if so get them to recheck balance :)

Thank your lucky stars you are not over here, we have a 100k/hr on all major roads, even motorways? Try keeping your Z down that low. And some of our minor roads which are good and fast and very light on traffic are just begging you to have a go. :bawl:

A friend had 17” fitted and had severe tram lining, he had the steering geom checked, all was OK in the end he put standard size wheel back on and now steers like a sport car, and no s/brace. :roll: :roll:
