The number you can see Robert is the part number for the plug connector, the disc part underneath is the Thermo Switch. Part 12 below I knew there was a thread regarding the location of the thermo switch, could I find it :head: http://static.bmwfans.info/images/epc/ODAzNzJfcA==.png Various switches ...

Nice buy Rob, larger wheels do look great on the Zeds not sure what they do for the handling though?
You seem to have a mark or something underneath the 2.2i sticker! I'm sure it will just come off though (before the ///M police come and get you …... he he)

If you have the winter pack, i.e. heated washer jets then I believe this is the thermostat for that, ref the location, I have seen these mounted in the vertical sides of the lower air scoop before but not in the bottom of the trim?
I would be surprised if there is not a part number on it somewhere.

Re: Rear Suspension and wheels and gaps and stuff
another suggestion, the rear springs from eurocarparts make the back end sit much higher. i fitted them to my 1.9 and the back end went up by at least an inch. i soon took them off and fitted lowering springs as it was way too high for a standard Z3 but it might work for your build? Good point, I'v...

Did you buy the mod, or make it? If I were to do something, it would probably involve some ducting that flowed air from the bumper vent around the wheelarch and into the centre of the hub. I made a set of cooling ducts out of an old pair of fog lights, I took the glass off the front, replaced this ...

There are 5 or 6 screws holding the kick panel in place, the screws have small caps on them to hide the screw heads. You can try and pop these off but they do not come off that easily, the simplest way is to use a small Philips driver and stab through the plastic caps, unscrew the screws with the ca...

If you are talking about the aluminium heat deflectors, I have seen this before on a couple of different makes of cars, the aluminium around the fixing nut seems to rot away leaving a big hole with no material to fix it back with. You could pry out the switch but it may leave marks on the dash, If you drop the lower kick panel you can push it from behind.
Apart from the rear cross member/diff hanger in/under the boot failing I cannot think of anything that is specific to the Z regarding the MOT, just the usual thing.

The only thing you will need to factor in your costs iBob s a re-alignment if you fit new wishbones, there will be some small difference in tolerance that will throw out the tracking. The link you posted to looks fine to me, I have changed a few sets now (on different cars) and they seem to be fine.

I tried the vacuum unit and could not get a good enough seal, I also found that once the bleed nipple was loosened air could be drawn into the tube and you never quite knew when you had got rid of any air in the system. I now use a pressure blender and it works a treat.
