I'd probably just get it from a BMW dealer. If it's the caliper to carrier bolt it should be 2 or 3 quid although I think someone on here recently got quoted £6 from his local dealer. If it's the slider bolt with the hex head more like £15-£20.

I'm not familiar with the component but it might be there to stop vibration.

I have a 3 year old Alhambra. Problems with air box vibrations are a know fault and are very annoying. The official Seat fix is to pack them with foam insulating tape to stop the vibration.

Disconnecting fuel line for M54 engine removal

I know it's a noddy question but I'm jiggered if I can find the answer.

Where's the best place to disconnect the fuel line for M54 (2.2) engine removal? Could anyone link to a photo showing the point?

Everything else already disconnected and just needed un-mounting of gearbox and exhaust.

The butyl tape was a little solid for my liking. More plasticine consistency than gungy. So I thought as I put it in it may be too dry to stick the vapour barrier properly. I don't know what the route of the water is. But I've seen water physically running out of the bottom of the door card. I guess...

Still struggling with this. I felt the leakiest place and the one place I could do something about was round the quarter light. So I stopped it up discretely with Sugru, figured that would get rid of most of the ingress and then at least stop the remaining from entering the cabin by sealing the foam...

I have 2 Feb 2001 2.2s, manufactured within 3 days of each other. One has the braided hose and the other doesn't. I would tend to agree the braided hose is unlikely to be original.

It just pulls off. I've only removed them when I've already had the door card off but I don't think that's necessary. They wrap round at either end. I unhook from the front and then just pull gently up.

A secondhand one will be £20-£25. You can get a recon for £45-£50 including at Eurocarparts (Ebay or with 30% discount).
