There were probably a few S54 'mules' made at the beginning for testing purposes. I suspect they would need a VIN to be registered for road use in the UK

This may explain the few odd early ones with main production starting early 2001.

Well, there's an S50 engine on eBay right now with a buy it now price of £1,995. Add £250 for a days labour (since the current engine runs, its just a case of swapping mechanicals) and you have a working Coupe for a shade over £7k.

Not that bad a deal really for an Evergreen Coupe.

There is a special tool for the castle nut. I managed to adjust min by just losening off the standard nut. I was then able to turn the castle nut with my fingers.

Not stitched in, but a biotch to replace. I did one recently, what a PIA. Simple fix is some large heatshrink tubing over the gap to hold the two pieces together. Something like THIS should do the job.

RealOEM show that the trailing arm for a 2.8 is only shared with the 3.0 and not with any other E36 or E30.

Either stick with PS2s or change all 4 to allow a 255 on the back. I m not convinced the Z3 really needs anything more on the back for normal driving. for sure though a 255 looks better and is more matched to the front in terms of rolling size.

E39 is more like an ET20 offset, so about 20mm to low for a Zed. The wheels will stick out about 20mm further.

10mm is OK, but I think 20mm wll be pushing it.

Check it out, but I think you will find that the front shock in the Koni kit is just an insert and you have to cut/modify your existing McPherson strut. Might be a bit more than your prepared for?

Koni's do get good reports though and seem to be a touch softer than the Bilstein.
