According to James May in this months Top Gear magazine the optimal age for a convertable is 44 and at the age of 47 he was giving them up.

I'm 49 and not giving up yet!!.

I've opened up the OE side light fittings in the main headlights that the original 1.9's used (just a plug molded over the hole) so my white sidelights are there so I've put some amber 501 LEDs in the bumper lights.

I might look into this, I used Footman James years ago when I ran two old Porsches, a 911 2.7S in the summer and a 924Turbo in the winter, they were a good company to deal with the only down side was after two years I lost what no claims I had.

I've had them on mine for years, bought them debadged off E-bay for £50. I was only looking to get rid of the BMW roundels, there's just too many of them :lol: I've also replaced the gearknob and put tape over M badge on the steering wheel :)

The look of the tin top when it's up just isn't right :? the rag top looks better 8-) both look good with the top down and after all it will be most of the time :lol: for me sports cars must have long bonnets and ragtops, it's an age thing :lol:

I've got exactly the same thing with my 2.0 :x low speed missfire/hesitation at 1500rpm. She's just back on the road after the winter and it seems a bit worse now so I'll watch this with interest and post anything I do with mine.

A question for older members :lol: remember Lockwood coloured dial faces, well I bought a set years ago and never got round to fitting them. The question I had then and now is do they fit over the original faces :? it's not very clear in the instructions or the posts made by people who fitted them.

Bleed your clutch.

Just done my annual oil service and had read on here that maybe some of the improvement that people get with the braided clutch hose is down to the fact that it get's bleed. So while I was under the car I did just that a what an inprovement :lol: well pleased.

I have 255/40 Falken 452's on the rear and they've done 5000, there's about 2mm differance between the inside and the outside so I'm having them turned round on the rims for this year to use the other side :)

That is a bit low, never seen below 26mpg on my 2.0 and that's when driven :wink: mind you I've never seen 30mpg either :cry:

Now I know mine is'nt one of the limited individual models but I notice that on my chassis plate it states ''BMW Individual ******''. I can only sumise that this is because my car was a special/specific order?, any body know?.

Thanks Mike, if I put my hand on the top of the engine at the front (vanos area) I can feel it but it's just a single tap as I rev the engine, would tappits not continue to tap?.

Off on a tangent but........ On the last slip on to the M1 before the M62 slip off......... A batenburg Volvo screamed down the slip onto the M1 missing me by about 3 FOOT :shock: No blues and twos on :shock: and cut the guy up in middle lane aswell :shock: would this be classed as dangerous drivin...

I'm in the process of repairing scrapes on my standard bumper and it's got six inches of ground clearance!!, can only imagine what would happen to that in some of the car parks I have to use some times :x .

My colume switch arrived this morning (won on E-bay for £12) so just got to get the interface, what sort of prices have people got from the dealer?, I converted the doller price on realOEM to £60 just to check my dealer is'nt over charging :o

The wheels aren't Cruize actually, because they have the cheap polished rim ;-) They are RS-JK5 will stainless steel rim so no flaking/discolouring from the effects of the weather. They are single, not split :-) Opps!!....very sorry :oops: Depends on the quality of the stainless. So if they are one...

Lovely car, it's nice to see a few 2 litres turning up on the forum, it's always appeared to be the forgotten model of the range :cry:

It was good to see those wheels on a Zed, there on E-bay and called Cruize they come in a staggard 8 & 9x18 with an ET41, lovely.

I'd have them on the front, I bet it would stop a lot of the chips you get ahead of the rear wheels, no need for magnetic stone gaurds.

Are they still avalible from the dealers :?: can't find them on real OEM.
