Re: hardtop

Had mine off all winter but it's my maiden year as a sportscar owner so I'm sure I'll mature in a few winter's time and have it back on. Having said that, with the heated seats and a warm selection of hats, gloves and scarves I've managed to do some sub-zero open top driving in reasonable comfort. I...

Southernboy - don't make me jealous about the summers you get!

I only meant that I bought my Z at the end of last summer! It hasn't stopped me driving with the top down but it'll be nice to do so without 2 jumpers a scalf and a coat!

Re: Almost new Northern Z3er!

Thanks for the welcomes guys! I have to admit the ACS kit does make the difference. I think the front looks good but I can't help but grin when I walk up to the car from the back and the roof is down. The combination of those massive shoulders over the rear wheels, the width of the tyres and the chr...

Thanks Zedonist.

I've tried quite a few classic and specialist brokers and they all laughed when I gave my M4 postcode.

I work for a major UK based insurer and my own company won't even quote me, had to go with one of our rivals Admiral

I can't help with your original question but I got one of these for Christmas and it nearly doubles the amount of boot space so you might find it interesting: http://www.boot-bag.com/mk%202.JPG I think they're around £75 but it was well worth it for me, I can get a tent and a fair amount of camping ...

Almost new Northern Z3er!

I've been around for a couple of months but only just got round to taking some pics :P This is my first proper car. Started out with a metallic orange Nissan Micra Vibe 1.0, drove it into the ground then got a Rover 214i and when the head gasket inevitably went I got a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Si. I sold ...

Re: Shaking steering wheel + clunking noise

Response to PEP The springs/coils can just get old, weaken and break. They take more wear and tear at the front with the weight of the engine and forces associated with steering. Sometimes the strut top bearing plate gets old and seizes and then exerts rotational force (when the steering wheel is o...

Re: Shaking steering wheel + clunking noise

I just had mine in the garage for a clunking noise last week. It occurred at around half lock, particularly when turning right and then straightening up again. The noise was metallic, like a thick wire being plucked then held almost instantly, sounded like it was coming from the OSF hub. I jacked th...

Re: Z3 Engines Pull to Redline?

I've got a 3.0i but I did test-drive a couple of 2.8s before I bought. I found that in both cars the engine and gearbox setup delivered consistently smooth power throughout the rev-range with the 3.0I clearly having a bit more punch. I regularly take mine to the red line and don't notice a significa...

I bought mine a lovely Inspection 2 service. She got through with an all clear except a bit of play in the OS track rod end so I'm getting that sorted next week. I've done around 2k since I bought her 6 months ago and before that she'd been in storage for a couple of years so it's something I've bee...

I live in the Green Quarter and since the end of December there's been a Black Z3 (2.2 I think) parked opposite my flat. Re: Abandoned white roadster ?

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think that if you contact the DVLA and explain that you've seen a car you believe to be abandoned they will contact the registered owner requesting confirmation that they still own the vehicle. If after a period of time there is no response the DVLA will ask you if...

Would be interested to see what luggage rack you get :) Tim. I was looking at luggage racks for Christmas but I really didn't want a permanent one which required drilling and bolting into the boot-lid. There are a few "semi-permanent" ones around but they're quite pricey and like Southenb...

Re: Stalling issue on my new Z3

Good advice again guys, I'll contact BMW about it and get it priced. I'm clueless with mechanics (hoping to learn a bit though!) and I'd rather the critical things were done by pros at the moment. Once it warms up a bit and I get some decent daylight to start working I'll have a go at some cosmetic ...

Stalling issue on my new Z3

Hi all, I recently bought my first sports car, a beautiful silver Z3 3.0 M54 with the AC Schnitzer kit. I've had to put a new set of tyres on it but nothing else done since purchase a couple of months ago. It ran brilliantly with no issues until Sunday. I was driving from Leeds to Manchester over th...
