Good write up - have to agree looks better without the vinyl.. :D

What was BMW's idea of putting it on some cars in the 1st place, did certain models/years come that way as standard or would it have been specced that way by the prospective owner, anyone know ??

I loosened off my roof so I could get right down below the normal view line at the back then fastened roof back up when I finished to make the roof taught and stop any pooling of dye in the folds. Then just repeated that for each coat... have to slightly disagree with you SB... my experience was if...

Renovo recommend at least 2 coats but also say 1 ltr is for 2 coats so I think you just haven't used enough product. Check out their site CLICKY LINK info on there and you can buy it direct from them. Watch out you don't get the stuff on your bodywork though its a bugger to remove. Best to mask out ...

Had a discussion with other members recently about this, 1 coat will leave you with possibly bits you missed, 2 coats even coverage so 3 preferably 4 for a deep colour that will last longer but how faded your roof is to start off will also factor in, I would say 4 if it were mine.

Well I am the opposite in the sense of height being only 5' 2" I am below the top of the seat, I have no hoops or wind deflector and have no problem with comfort whilst driving at any speed. I do find having the windows down stops wind buffering around the cab as has been demonstrated on occas...

Interesting debate - deflector on or off. In this last few days of sunny weather I've tried both options and from a comfort/driving point of view I find very little difference. It may be that my height (6'3") seats me above the wind deflector's benefits - anybody else have a similar experience...

Hope you manage to get hold of one, don't bother with the dealers I went down that route a few years ago - 20p piece of plastic they wanted £80 for the full wiring loom and switch and wouldn't split it even down to the switch with the white plastic bit.
