Try checking the hydraulic fluid lever in the power top motor.
It is in the trunk, left side on the side under the carpet.
There is a white plastic reservoir there, and the fluid needs to be up to a dot in the middle.

If you'd start with a 2.8 platform it's easier, but from 1.9 there are too many differences. engine, ecu. transmission, different rear are to accomodate the exhaust... Thanks for the replies guys, It is summer 90 prevent of the year, but the last ten are crazy pouring rain that finds the weak spots of our softops... I'll Snap a pic if the front frame, good to know.
