Good evening, all. I can confirm that my car is the one previously described in full by Kilsh. I bought it from him in 2009, with a pretty illegible signature in the service book of Eddie I 98 and a VHS biographical video that includes Eddie driving a black Z1 in Italy. My car was first registered i...

For those that don't have TomTom sat navs: If you open the .itn files with a text editor each waypoint is in the format of longitude|latitude|name The lat and long have the decimal places missing. So, for example, Sunday's lunch stop is the Crooked Billet which has the longitude and latitude listed...

I have the same mesh deflector. The fixings seem adequate but I have to take care to prevent them from touching the seat backs. Visibility is usually OK, although coming out of oblique junctions requires care. After a close call on the M6 a couple of weeks ago, I'm wondering if there's any way to mo...

The camo had several layers of pigment and a clear coat of protective lacquer which seems to have provided remarkably good fastness properties. Unfortunately, the amount of paint on the surface of the leather probably prevents it from returning to its original size after you've been sitting on it fo...

I've got the same clicking symptoms. My battery has a label showing it was fitted in May 2008 which seems a very short lifespan. Charging the battery for a few hours revives it as long as I use the car at least once a week. I'm just about to go out to the garage and take it off charge now and take i...

I don't think Mrs Clarkson owns the car any more. I understand it is the one that has been on almost permanent display at North Oxford BMW for a couple of years and that it now belongs to one of the staff. It looks as if it has had some TLC in the past few months; in fact it's almost as good as mine!

Thanks, Pat. The description of your hood wear is exactly like mine. I'm wondering if a smooth plastic cover could go over the iron that seems to cause all the problems. Am I right in thinking that this happens predominantly on the left hand side where the driver probably presses more firmly while s...

Thank you everyone for your comments. I was pleased but also a bit suspicious of CarHood's price of £820 since someone is currently selling a Z1 on Pistonheads with a new hood that cost £3800. I don't want to pay more than necessary since I don't deliberately start Z1 journey wih the hood up. As Cha...

Z1 hood
I've recently bought a Z1. It's in fine condition and great to drive but there's frayed area in the side panel of the hood. It doesn't yet leak but it is rather unsightly, so I want to get it fixed over the winter. A local hood maker said it wasn't repairable and quoted about £1300 for a new hood. T...
