Re: ABS

Its just I am wanting to change the brake fluid and my local motor factor does Dot 4 for ABS systems and one for ASC systems. I know it has ASC because there is a button on the console. When I switch on the ignition there is an ABS light on the dash. So if it has both ASC and ABS which brake fluid d...

Re: Handling?

I would just like to add my two penneth to the thread by reporting that my recent fitment of a set of new 225/50x60 Matador MP46 Hectorra 2s has done wonders for the handling of my Z3. Whereas before I was on the edge of my seat not knowing what the car was going to do next the car's handling is muc...

Which Engine Oil 1.9 16v

It's engine oil change time again I would be grateful for opinions on which oil to use. According to the hand book the reccomended oil is 5W - 40 or 'Special Oils'. What is Special Oil? I pressume it is Fully Synthetic. As the car does only about 3,000 miles a year is it worth paying the extra for F...

Excellent bit of road but not for faint hearted. I always try to fit that and Wrynose Pass in whenever I go to the Lakes. You have to careful of 'less talented' drivers coming the other way, if you need to reverse there are some awfully nasty rocks to damage your pride and joy on. Would make ...

Re: New tyres

I have just fitted a set of Matador MP46 Hectora 2 s after much diliberation and research on the net. I decided on them for a number of reasons. Firstly (on my size at least) they are W rated which is higher than the standard V, accademic I know but it's a plus rather than a minus, also they are ZR ...

Because the seat does't adjust back far enough I find I can't release the clutch pedal cleanly every time. I have fitted a new clutch but still the pedal bitting point is nearer the top than I would like. Does anyone know if there is any way of adjusting the pedal so the clutch bites sooner. Car is ...

Hi Sp1key, I don't know if it's normal but mine does the same thing. When I bought it I thought I would cure it by giving it a service. After fitting new plugs and air filter it's was still there. I do find however that it almost disappears if I fill up with Super unleaded petrol.

Re: How To: View the original options list for any BMW onlin

Just found out my Z3 had Z Star alloys when new, which is great because I have just bought some to replace the pepper pots I was never keen on. This means I don't need to confess to the insurance company that I have made a modification, they should have been on anyway. It also means I don't need to ...

I have a 1.9, although the suspension is softer than I would have expected for a 'sports' car I wouldn't say it is all that bad. I have noticed the car sits down at the back and the front lifts under acceleration. Maybe your suspension is just tired and just replacing with new standard parts might s...

Tyre dilemma

I have recently purchased some very good used 16" Z Star alloys for my 1.9 Z3 which came with excellent Michelin Pilot HX tyres with 5mm tread on them. They look like they have been in storeage for quite some time because the date codes indicate the tyres were made in 1996, and that's the probl...

I think condition is the important thing. Mine has had 6 owners but it's mint. I think a lot of people buy these cars with good intentions but find that they only use them in summer and after a while the novelty wears off. It may also have been a pre registered car which puts an owner in log book bu...

John if 1950 is your date of birth, I am a tad younger born 1951. That makes me 60. I took my Z3 in as a part exchange and decided it was much too good to let go to the trade - that's me excuse and sticking to it.
