On the 1066 going from Diss, towards Thetford, passed a lovely looking light blue Z3 with KEV in the numberplate. We both had tops down, absorbing the sunshine. (You have to watch out for deer on that road, especially around dusk).

Re: Help wanted
There may not be technically a 'limp' mode, surely this is just a shorthand term used to express the well known effect of the power been cut to some default level when sensors are triggered. This happens commonly from dirty wheel sensors resulting in the ABS light coming on. The result is that accel...

Re: In support of Mike
I didn't think Mike was being offensive to the person asking for advice. He was a bit offensive of the Bentley manual, which might have upset Mr Bentley, but his warnings about that book were informative. However I would say that the discussion on the thread about the stuck bonnet which is currently...

It's the 'engine temperature ' thread that's sparked this most recently, but other recent threads as well. Now this thread has been blocked and so information on a common problem which could be of use to many, has been lost.

It seems to me that Mike Fishwick has been given a hard time of it on recent forums. I know he can be a bit blunt, but he has a wealth of valuable information, and I just feel that it would be a shame if he is put off from posting his in-depth knowledge because of this reaction. I think that comment...

Yes, sorry, if I keep complementing them they might give me a Z4.
As for the paint, you can get the smallest possible blob onto the end of the nib while its away from the car, and then apply it afterwards.

There is a tool called something like an easi-out . It' s like a tap but with a left hand thread. You drill a hole down the centre and screw the tap in. This will unscrew the bolt.

I agree. I love driving the Z in France. I've just taken the laquer off the outside of the rim from one of my wheels just using sandpaper and wet/dry paper, starting from 180 grit down to 2500 ( see current thread 'Refurbished wheels). Thanks for the advice. I think I'd better seal them with something. I quite like the idea of my wheels smelling of mint. I'd have to stop people trying to lick them. It's a bit expensive though.

Refurbished wheels
I wasnt impressed with the cost of having the damage from curbing taken out of my wheels so I thought i'd have a go myself. I just did the rim and sanded off all the marks and the varnish, starting with 180 grade paper and ending with wet 2500. I was going to revarnish it but it looks good enough as...

I've got the same year and same engine as yours and I used to have the same problem. Re: abs/asc lights on
This site is a lot better than a Haynes manual. Just do a search and theres lots on the wheel sensors. It's a simple job but if the sensors havent been off for a while they get corroded in and need lots of WD40 soaked in. The front ones are generally harder as they are more exposed to the elements. ...

Re: New MOT and DSC etc warning lights on?
It's probably the wheel sensors that need cleaning. Theres plenty of information on the site how to do this and it's theoretically an easy job. However they do get corroded in and so can be difficult to remove, especially the front ones. Keep spraying WD40 on them and leave to soak in. Dont put too ...

As swamper says, the system will reset itself if the problem has been cured. The front sensors are more likely to be the problem as these pick up more stuff from the road then the back ones.
