There was a small article in Auto Express the other week on how many MOT testers are losing their certificates because they are failing cars when they shouldn't be and the amount of complaints to VOSA has rocketed. One bloke had his Mini failed because he had fitted LED side lights and the MOT teste...

Welcome to the forum :) There are a number of things that can cause tramlining most notable is the lower front wishbone rear bushes which can wear and cause excessive movement altering the toe in. A usual remidy is to uprate them with powerflex bushes but replacing them with new standard ones will p...

Buy a lint roller or if you have some wide masking tape knocking around tear a strip off and stick it to the hood, give it a good rub to make it stick then rip it back off. Repeat this until you have covered the enitre hood using more masking tape when it loses its tack. I find this method brilliant...

I bet it is the thermostat as you suspect, I had very similar symptons which only really came apparent when the weather dropped cooler last year so I changed mine along with the pump and belts. I hade to manufacture my own fan removal tool but the whole operation was pretty straightforward. The diff...

I would also check your rear anti-roll bar drop links, I had mine pop off on me recently and although I had not attributed this to my car tramlining when I fixed the drop links whilst also doing the the rear shocks the tramlining almost disappeared so I would give them a check. Most Z3 though suffer...

No Leeds is fine... many thanks :) I have been there a couple of times for RR days the last being at the end of Nov' where my 2.8 made 195bhp pretty much bang on the money really for a standard car. Paul does know his stuff and gets very good results. I was thinking of organising a RR day for zroad...

Squeeky back end (ooh err!)
Well finally got round to curing an anoying squeek coming from the rear suspension this week. I thought it was probably the rear top shock mounts so I bought a new pair and set about changing them. At the same time I decided to change the rear brakes and I am glad I did, although I knew they needed ...

Fun this morning
Boy was it fun getting into work this morning, the problem being no matter which way I go I have to negotiate fairly steep hills. I managed it though the 2.8 makes it quite easy to trundle along on tickover and as long as I had momentum I was fine although there were a few moments where I thought I ...

Just replace the belts on mine, they were cracking and I presume they were the originals. I also did the thermostat which was stuck open and replaced the waterpump for a metal impellor one although the original plastic one was in fine condition when I removed it. I had no chirping noise from mine an...

Problem is they only have really small bags of 5/10g whereas you need a bag of around 500g to be effective in a car. The one I got was only £6 but I am sure if you shop around or maybe you might pick something up from work if you have deliveries of IT equipment etc. we sometimes do but I thought for...
