Parts Required to retrofit cruise control on M44 3.0i:
1 off 65 71 8 380 054 interface
1 off 61 31 8 360 926 Switch assembly
Wiring is already in the M44 and probably others. Takes an hour (includes coffee break) and it works immediately.

I can verify that this works. Following a Healy (BN2) at high speed into a tunnel, the noise was incredible. I thought that the Healy had blown his exhaust box (we'd been at it for a while). Getting too close to his rear I shut the Z3 down only to discover that I was the cause of the racket. Tiptoed...

I have an auto because skiing, Kawasaki's and bouts of outright debauchery have provided me with a less than perfect left leg. An auto is ideal for the long periods of static/slow moving traffic that passes for everyday driving in the UK. Consumate ease at traffic lights when the 3.0 Auto will stomp...

A well known problem. In the trade, a pair of 'tube' sockets are used, one inside the other, with the inside one being longer. The trick is to use ring spanners on the outside of the tubes at the top. Unfortunately they always seem to need odd size spanners so a good selection is needed to find ones...

Talking of spam... One of the most recent forms of internet marketing is to 'doctor' the search engines. It would seem that the most efficient (and cost effective) method is to get folks mad enough to post complaints to their favourite forum. Peeps complain 7 times more for bad service than for good...

The point that is getting missed among all the wittering about US voltage etc. is that, when the ignition is on, the heated jets are not controlled by a switch, thermo or otherwise. As c_w mentioned, they are on all the time but consume minimal current. Most people fitting new ones leave the heaters...

I also agree that they are close to the top of your head - but so also is the screen A frame. I suspect that if they were four times the price and were engraved with AC Schnitzer (even from China) there would be far less finger wagging and tut-tutting. The OP even called them Style bars, where was i...

Hi ktg1000, if you haven't already done it, before you start the engine from cold, check to see if the fan rotates feely. If not, you do have a problem with the viscous fan coupling. Meldrew, just a heads up, you may not be aware that the fan belt tensioner was modified by BMW after 2002 to a hydrau...

It's been known for some time that at £40-50 a time - at non-OEM pattern part prices - it has been viable for the chinese counterfeit industry to produce these parts. The Steptronic transmission has 'sport' and 'manual' modes. These are selected by pushing the lever to the left while in 'drive'. The sport mode is similar to normal drive but heaps on more coal and holds on to the gears longer (until you enter orbit). The gas pedal is also directly connected to the...

Simply: In the same manner that an electronic sewing machine needs to know when and where to put the needle through the material, the computer that controls the engine in the Z3 needs to know exactly in what (rotational) position the engine is at all times. Along with other parts, the (rotational) p...

One of the major problems with the Hunter measurement system is that it doesn't have a defined starting datum point. It/the operators don't take into account that (particularly on the Z3/E36 etc.) because of this suspension geometry, a low tyre pressure (for instance) on the N/S rear will change the...

Gentlemen, do we need a reality check here? (1) The front camber can be corrected (from those figures). Certainly no strut replacement necessary. (2) The rear offside camber is a whisker out of the green, sit on the rear once or twice and it will change. If there really is a fault, a low road spring...

The 'National Speed Limit' applies to all roads in the UK. The national speed limit for a dual carriageway is 70mph - unless other restrictions apply! This means that the limit on a dual carriageway can be any speed if the road signs so dictate. In effect this means that only if there are no speed l...

The hole centres are in a rectangle of 35mm X 45mm. If you make the tool in the form of a triangle and use only three bolts to hold the tool, the fourth bolt will keep the fan coupling in place. Generally you can use a 36mm (or is it 32, i forget) spanner and 'shock' it off with a hammer. Of course,...
