I also get a chattering noise inside the car. Mine comes from the passenger seat every time my right foot slips and the car goes over seventy mph!

ER... sorry but a strut brace, butt strut, larger sway bars do nothing to 'stiffen the chassis' on a Z3! They function laterally and two of them are even rubber mounted!

...and a recommendation from Jeremy Clarkson is worth..?

I purchased 'empty' brackets from Euro Automotive Parts a while ago for very sensible money. They also sell the loaded wishbones. Search on Ebay and the parts are listed on their site under E36 (not Z3).

Use the normal 30mm lower road springs and insert the 5mm OEM spring pad part no: 33 53 1 136 385 Theoretically this should be the fix but you can sure that, after spring settle etc., there will be some error. No, you don't need to replace the tenshioner. However, change the belt now as a matter of urgency. If deterioration is visible in the belt change it ASAP. I would not start the engine again before it's changed.

Before you rush out to spend your cash there is another simple test you can try. Change the coil pack to another cylinder and see if the fault shifts with it. Hi Sapper0, welcome to the forum. There should not be 'play' in the ball joints and if any exists then replace the wishbone asap. I would suggest that your steering wheel shake is most likely caused by suspension strut/shock absorber on its last legs, common on our motors especially after a good few...
