I saw in another post someone mentioned using Autosol to clean their rear window, stupidly I thought they meant the chrome cleaner so I went and tried it and it did a brilliant job! Think I'll invest in some of proper stuff now!

The water pump blowing - quite possible of course - would be silent IMHO, and this was an explosive noise. I disagree, when my pump went it certainly made quite a bang ... well not the actual pump but the bearings failed big time and the fan ripped the housing out and spread it around under my bonn...

My daughter had a similar problem after driving her E46 through an unexpectedly deep puddle, the answer being that the rubber intake elbow had split, and admitted water, which entered number 5 cylinder and caused a bent connecting rod. She was about to sell it before moving to New Zealand, but luck...
