The theory was correct then about the heat soak. I wonder if you could additionally shield it from the engine or provide some air cooling onto that part.

Very nice sounds like you have got yourself essentially a good ///M there that just needs a little TLC. You know where I am for the seat bushes and having done them before I am sure you will get them rattled off within the hour, let me know if you also need a badge refurb kit.

Yocky what age is your zed.
A quick search on realoem is telling me the 2.0 and 2.8 shared the same manifold so the pipes should be the same size but there was a variation where the manifold incorporated cats as well but not sure which ones were fitted with those.

Ray, you can get Boge/sachs shocks from likes of Eurocarparts which are exactly the same as BMW ones except they are not stamped BMW. The easiest way to distinguish between a S50B30 and S50B32 is that a B30 only has a single vanos whereas the B32 has a double vanos plus the rocker covers are different. I seriously doubt it would have had a B30 fitted as the wiring and ECU are different for each varient.

Hydraulic fluid you say
Be very careful if it is anything like brake fluid it will strip your paint if left long enough. Just hope the company guy is right and it is vegetable based, get it done asap would be my advice.
