..............I wouldn't drive the car with it in that state as a sudden jolt may shatter it into a million pieces which should stay intact but you won't be able to see through it............ That was the toughened glass used in 'screens from the 70's and earlier, the 'screen in a Z will be laminat...

It won't be any comfort to you but I was looking for a N/S mirror for over 6 months.
In the end I managed to get one from a scrappers for £80!! + £15 for paint, + £30 for spraying and was quoted £50 for fitting, but did that myself in around 30 mins.

Don't take your car out to dry the brake discs?? There's no reason to and if you do you get 'orrible rust drips on your freshly cleaned alloys.

It's a pleasure - we're all here to help. I'd suggest you put it on E-Bay and let the market find a value but this time just respond to the enquirers with a polite "no but feel free to bid on the auction". It's prob the least desirable model with a low for the age but still a high mileage ...

If I was looking to change I wouldn't give you more than £3k absolute tops - there are plenty out there with half the mileage well within haggling range of £4k.

The water pump went big time about 2,000 miles ago so you maybe on borrowed time?? didn't do any damage, other than to itself, though I was actually in the process of parking when it actually gave up the ghost.

I'm guessing here, but it might be what you have left on the car is double sided tape. I'll be a pig to shift, but the best bet is to soak a rag with white spirit and leave that on the sticky residue for ten mins or so. Then using your fingernail see if you can lift the tape and remove. What's left ...

How far is your 90 minute commute? It'd need to be well over 100 miles for the maths to come close to justifying spending an extra £5k on a replacement. In fact thinking about depreciation etc - I'd guess you'd have two years free motoring if you stick with the Z - longer if you're taking out finance.
