I don't think rusting rear springs are grounds for an MOT fail, at least not until they break. Which is unlikely to happen now if it hasn't happened yet. Not sure if factory springs are still available. I think there are Spax springs available for the later cars. Eibach springs for the Z1 went out o...

If you haven't already done so you might wish to drill a small hole (1-2mm) at the current end of the crack to prevent is propagating further. I have an article from Michael from a few years ago and he mentions the cause being a mix of the elastic compounds in the wing material having evaporated ove...

In 1998 my 325is would have great difficulty going into 2nd gear in the winter time - it was as though there was a bar across the 2nd gear gate. The requisite amount of MTL later and the car dropped into 2nd when cold as though the box was warm. Night and day difference.

You don't need to be a BMW CC member - have a look at http://marketing.michelin.co.uk/buynow/ Max voucher value is 50 quid for 2 tyres but if you need 4 just get the 2nd pair bought under a different name.

Runflats requires a special rim that has a "shoulder" to support the bead should pressure be lost. Very few tyre shops will fit run flats to conventional rims because of the risk/liability.

The EIbach springs for the Z1 went out of production for a while and then it seems EIbach built some more in perhaps 2010. I bought a set in early 2011 - at the time Eibach in Germany said they had 5 sets in stock. Those are probably long gone but it might be worth a call to Eibach UK to see if they...

It's filled from the same reservoir as the brake fluid; the feed is usually taken from a level such that a leak in the clutch circuit won't take so much fluid out as to influence the braking circuit.

I think that if you move the seat all the way forward, raise it as high as it will go, tilt the backrest forward and remove the battery compartment cover (the two door control units unclip) you should have enough room to extract the battery. I don't recall having had to take the seat out.
