If it's a quality map (maintains a sensible mixture under all conditions) and you don't bounce the revs off the raised limiter, it should have no adverse affect IMHO.

BMW reliability?

So in the past year, it's been a bit of a roller coaster personally, but suffice to say, we haven't had the Z out since last October! Time for this shameful situation to be rectified. I went round to the garage. Clearly had to sort out a completely flat/knackered battery. What do you think happened ...

1 year fully comp with Flux is £450 with protected NCB (12 years) - renewed today.

Don't know what we did different, but I think our Z has more mods than most?

Anyone know who Deano insures with?

Try Adrian Flux. We've had our supercharged 2.8 with them for years and now have a modified 911 Turbo (550 bhp) also insured with them, for a lot less than £1k! We have clean licenses, oldies and live in countryside.

The relatively new Eagle F1 is supposed to be a really good tyre, but I can't comment on mixing old with new.

I have a set of Toyo T1R's, which I rate. Lots of fans of the Flaken 452 on here too.

The Z3 needs a tyre with a softer tyre wall and all of these seem to suit the car really well.

Motors are fine Al, so long as the SH is full and franchised.

Boot welds are obvious, so long as you look in the right place. They literally can 'pop', so you can't miss them. More of an issue on higher powered cars and higher mileages.

Yes, it's a later 2.8. M52 is the 6 cylinder 2.8 motor and the TU means Technical Update, which means it has twin vanos instead of single vanos on earlier models. No clutch upgrade needed, so far. ECU was removed and sent to ESS for flashing new map. As stated, no issues after many years and miles.

I have an ESS V2-SQ on a M52 TU. Never had any issues and it's been great. I understand the new TS2 system can be fitted but requires mods to the engine bay. Haven't found out what yet. What made you buy a Z3? It is such a beautiful sensuous shape, it's a real roadster with a purity of purpose (open air motoring at the touch of a button) but still has a useable boot and decent tank range and that magnificent engine note of BMW's six cylinder petrols, especially when pushed to the l...
