You can imagine him looking at the options list:
hmmm. 8.1 litre with extra power? Hmmm, like it.
ABS? No, that's for girls.
What a muppet.

I'll be taking my Z1 down this year (so it will probably be a wet one). I'm going first thing Thursday, travelling over on the Eurotunnel and coming back Monday morning. We stay in a hotel in town, I but plan to be fairly late at the circuit on Saturday. Normally I get to about 3:30AM and have to ca...

Z1 Oil Change
Just changed the oil on the Z1. Could they make the oil filter in a more difficult place or what? Burned my forearms, squished my fingers and generally struggled, but managed it. Tell me - is it recommended to remove the undertray to get at the filter? I thought I would, but it goes up into the wheelh...

I was thinking actually that what I might do next time it plays up is to swap over the door control modules, just to see if this has an effect. I was working on the basis that if it corrected the problem, then the driver's was faulty, and that if it didn't, we could regard it as OK. (always looking ...

Z1 doors (Ouch!)
I believe that there may be a problem with my driver's door. It played up a while ago, by not shutting completely (ie not latching in the up position), but then appeared to correct this and had been fine since. Now it appears to work intermittently correctly. Sometimes it will not shut on the outsid...

Senna, Id be very interested to hear the outcome of the M50 swap - thses are plentiful and easy to get hold of. I'm guessing you're thinking about the E36 328i with a better inlet manifold. That way, should be good for an easy 225bhp? Cool name, by the way. Not enough reverence in this world I say. ...

Ben, I saw an article on the BMC induction in one of the BMW mags recently. They were impressed with the real power gains they measured. Looks cool too. Did you buy direct from BMC in Itally, or did you find someone retailing at a decent price over here? Also, if you don't mind my asking, how much d...

Induction ideas
My Z1 has a lovely fruity exhaust note, as the PO had a stainless back box made up identical to the BMW system. Below 3000 rpm there is a very bassy overlay, and I am very pleased with it. I was looking at the induction system, with a view to balancing things up a little, trying to get a bit of fun ...

My wind deflector arrived from the Fatherland today. Very easy fit, took 25 mins, including bending the supplied brackets about a bit for best fit. No verdict yet on how good it is at the job as the weather looked too horrible to venture out. I used the Zed at the weekend and got it filthy and din't...

I am always looking out for bits, and how much they go for etc etc. I keep seeing this on German eBay. My German is somewhere between poor and ridiculous, but I think this might be a complete hood, new, and from a firm that lists similar for other cabrios on it's eBay shop. http://cgi.ebay.de/CABRIO...

You weren't hanging around. I thought the Z1 looked so fresh against newer cars. It really is a design that has aged well. Looking at one alongside a Z3 you would be hard pressed to say the Z3 looked a more modern design. I was there in the CSL - looking all of it's 33 years, but beautiful with it! ...

Thanks chaps. I'll try the Renovo stuff, as that is on its way and looks very good. As a side issue, I see the post about T-Cut. Wind deflector
Does anyone have a recommendation for a wind deflector for the Z1?
I don't see a BMW one listed on RealOEM, but I have seen plenty of pics of cars wih them fitted.
Trying to hold onto what little hair I have left!
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Very sad to see this. I agree that to repair would be a daunting task. Must have been a strange accident though. The o/s wheel looks intact, and it is hard to work out what must have happened. A tempting buy for bits alone, but oo much money already. Nice low mileage car as well. I hope someone with...

Only a 40 mile trip home, but I seem to have managed to do 120 miles today! I will post a few pics when I can, but I want to have a bit of a clean up first. BIG grin right n...

Purblau premium?
Still looking for a Z1 (and trying to create enough garage space to be able to look after it too). How much do you guys reckon a Purblau one should command as a premium, given that it seems quite a rare colour. I've never seen one in this colour in the UK, and it is a colour I like. Your thoughts wo...

Paul,
Tried sending you a PM, but not sure you are getting them (that's the second I've sent).
I am interested.
Can you either send me a PM or email me on samlever@thinkpositive.co.uk ?
Thanks Paul, and hope all is well with you.

There was a guy I dealt with at Hartlake some time ago who managed to wire my then (brand) new E46 head unit through to a non-BMW, non-Alpine changer, by way of an interface box. I am sure that a similar think would be possible, taking the old round plug and making up a loom that terminated in a mor...
