You can imagine him looking at the options list:

hmmm. 8.1 litre with extra power? Hmmm, like it.
ABS? No, that's for girls.

What a muppet.

Felix - you have a Z1 - you MUST have a life - 'nuff said mate.
With 3 old BMW's I am fairly familiar with realoem, but that is a neat trick.

Felix, you know your way around realoem better that I do!
Still, I thought I recognised the switch from my Dad's old car, and I was right.....
Plenty of those around in breakers' yards.
Either that or you could "carelessly" get out of a mini-cab and walk away with one.....

I'll be taking my Z1 down this year (so it will probably be a wet one). I'm going first thing Thursday, travelling over on the Eurotunnel and coming back Monday morning. We stay in a hotel in town, I but plan to be fairly late at the circuit on Saturday. Normally I get to about 3:30AM and have to ca...

I would also vote for the switch being the culprit. That pic looks like a switch from an E30, but I have a feeling it's more a rectangular shape on the Z1. Isn't that the E28 switch, like this one: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DC92&mospid=47222&btnr=51_0445&hg=51&fg=...

Z1 Oil Change

Just changed the oil on the Z1. Could they make the oil filter in a more difficult place or what? Burned my forearms, squished my fingers and generally struggled, but managed it. Tell me - is it recommended to remove the undertray to get at the filter? I thought I would, but it goes up into the wheelh...

I was thinking actually that what I might do next time it plays up is to swap over the door control modules, just to see if this has an effect. I was working on the basis that if it corrected the problem, then the driver's was faulty, and that if it didn't, we could regard it as OK. (always looking ...

Z1 doors (Ouch!)

I believe that there may be a problem with my driver's door. It played up a while ago, by not shutting completely (ie not latching in the up position), but then appeared to correct this and had been fine since. Now it appears to work intermittently correctly. Sometimes it will not shut on the outsid...

Senna, Id be very interested to hear the outcome of the M50 swap - thses are plentiful and easy to get hold of. I'm guessing you're thinking about the E36 328i with a better inlet manifold. That way, should be good for an easy 225bhp? Cool name, by the way. Not enough reverence in this world I say. ...

Did you fit it yourself?????
When you say roled up in a small box, it sounds as if it was literally just the canvass and the window - not the frame. Is that right?
Was fitting a real bitch, or did you get someone else to do it?

Ben, I saw an article on the BMC induction in one of the BMW mags recently. They were impressed with the real power gains they measured. Looks cool too. Cheers Chris,
I have been out a couple of times since, and it has been perfect.
My only worry is not being able to leave the car secure if it won't shut properly when I want to park it up.

Induction ideas

My Z1 has a lovely fruity exhaust note, as the PO had a stainless back box made up identical to the BMW system. Below 3000 rpm there is a very bassy overlay, and I am very pleased with it. I was looking at the induction system, with a view to balancing things up a little, trying to get a bit of fun ...

Having had a chance to test the wind deflector last weekend, I am pretty pleased. It certainly doesn't cut out all the gusts that tug at the top of your head, but I would say that once you hit about 30mph it gets no worse until over 100. For me, that pretty much covers the "normal use" ran...

I'm planning to take mine to Le Mans next year, possible for both Classic and 24Hrs events. Fabulous car for the job.
For the 24Hrs, I am even planning to take my bike down. After getting 3 adult sized bikes into the boot of my E30 M3, one into a Zed should be childsplay! (with any luck).
