Tom Tom Satnav oddity
I've had a cheap Tom Tom for about a year - really chuffed with it. Odd thing though, when I'm not using it, it sits on a shelf and from time to time switches itself on. No-one in room, no remotes being used - and no heavy electro magnetic equipment in my living room... Anyone else get this? Thought...

Thumbs up to the Fintry Inn, north east of Glasgow over the "Campsies" - best burger I've tasted in a long time. Thumbs down to the Cross Keys at Kippen, a bit further than Fintry - now gone "gastro pub", on the menu is a Scotch Pie, done over with something - £6-odd. Yes, six qu...

I drove up to Glasgow last weekend, and although I have every respect for speed cameras, there really are too many between Devon and Scotland. There was, in addition, one safety camera van camera that nearly got me - up near Preston - LHS (obviously) but on a left hand gentle curve, just after or un...

I'm heading up to the Highlands three weeks hence, to Roy Bridge and spending 4 days touring the region. It's my favourite place in the world in every respect but the road from Invergarry to Kyle of Lochalsh takes some beating. I'll maybe try the Cluanie Inn. We've used a wee pub in Dornie (just off...

I very nearly did similar a couple of weeks ago; went round a corner, accelerated away, not violently; next minute I'm heading across the road towards an unforgiving wall. As luck would have it the pavement stopped me and bounced me back into the road. Damage = one severely kerbed rear alloy. Mental...

Depends what you mean by the South West, The Paddock Garage not far from Exeter Airport come highly recommended, by me as well as others. My son's got the same M3, but the saloon version - oddly enough, with the same wheels - because the Evo wheels that were on it when he got it were trashed, so he swopped with the wheels off his previous car, which had been refurbished a few months earlier. I think I'm right in saying that it's the s...

I just replaced my head unit with a good quality Alpine unit, about £280 from caraudiodirect. It plays mp3s and has an Ipod/mp3 player wire direct. If only there was a simple answer. I did the sums a couple of years ago when I changed jobs. Calculate the amount you'll pay for the vehicle over the term of the lease. Compare the cost of buying the car over the same period, together with the likely re-sale cost, but bring in the loss of interest o...

Due to a business meeting I went up that way once, only the once mind, and was appalled at the placing of the cameras.
