Re: Considering a Z4 Coupe, help please!
I think that it could be that, because the Z4 is a very different car from the Z3, there isn't a natural progression from one to the other. I haven't moved on to a Z4 from a Z3, not because I can't afford the 'upgrade', but because I just love the look of the Z3. I wish I could combine the engineeri...

Sorry, we're all putting in our three pennyworth, as if we could do better, but....
The bit of bodywork between the headlight and the front grill appears to have a ridge between it. This, to me interrupts the flow of bodywork around the grill. Just a thought. Looks great.

I can't understand how it would make a difference to the fit just because they dont make many. Surely they just are made around a mould so the shape would be the same whether you made one 2 years ago or just yesterday.

Get 100 free tanks of petrol
There is some discussion on this site about the petrol consumption of z's, so here is the real cost for those considering a buy. We have 2 cars in our household, the z3 2 litre and a focus. The focus cost me about £10000, second hand. A Z3 like mine can be picked up for about £3000. Yes, I get 42 to...

Yea, sorry Tim , I guess I'm just jealous of your Z4. I love the latest model Z4's like yours, but it would be interesting to know which of your 2 models you would choose to be written off if a choice had to be made. After all, you have said that you are going to sell the 3, but still no sign of it....

I think they'll be fine. You must feel really proud of them. I'm more impressed with owners doing such jobs themselves and sharing it with us, than having professsionals doing everything. Anyway, wheels eventually get chipped through the varnish layer which wouldnt be stopped by any amount of priming.

The front sensors are always the hardest to remove as they really get rusted in. The bolt with the allen head is easy to shear off when removing them so be careful. I just removed and replaced my Z3 sills (2litre 2000 roadster). I decided to have them resprayed because of that little bit that rusts where the front wheel kicks up grit onto it. Robert I think I'm understanding it a bit better. A sensor might not be completely broken but just be giving occasionally eratic readings, and in that case the fault might or might not pick it up. I think that's entirely my point. What you are saying is that the code reader is saying there is no fault with the cam sensor, but because code readers, or the system that tells the code reader, is not very good, you might as well fork out for a new one anyway.

I understand there could be ambiguity in some instances, but the current thread 'car wont start all the time' a camshaft sensor was replaced after using a code reader. The problem was still there. Surely the computer would know if a sensor was working or not.

So by joining up all the panels together in one huge earth terminal, the positive terminal will be sacrificed in place of the panels rusting. The battery terminal may have t...

Theres plenty of salt water around on our roads over winter- thats what causes the rusting in the first place. If the zinc is in an exposed place underneath and bolted directly to steel, that should be sufficient to set up a potential dfference.
