It was only to be expected that prices would drop once I bought one. :D Likewise the poor summer we had as I've never owned a convertible before. :D However, even though I originally planned to buy my Z3 as a stopgap to getting a TVR, I think that I may be keeping the Z3 much longer than I intended,...

17" or 18" alloys wanted: NOT NEEDED NOW.
As my Z3 passed it's MOT last week I fancy getting some different wheels for it. It's a 2001 Y reg 3.0 so I believe I can't fit M type wheels (unless someone has four front wheels?) and not interested in older OEM types such as the 2.8 alloys. Ideally I'd like a set with decent tyres that could be p...

Might be worth doing the reset that clears all the 'learnt' settings of the sensors. I can't remember what this is called now, but it's sometimes mentioned in the Bentley book to reset it after fitting certain parts. I'll edit this post later if the correct term comes to me later (I put it down to a...

I put a Pistonheads smilie on mine in place of the '3.0i'. In the hope that it makes the car slightly less likely to be bothered with as it might be assumed to be a less powerful model by those not in the know.

Re: Z3 for Drifting - after some guidance on Z3 Models etc
The 3.0 has an LSD (well mine has anyway but I believe it is standard). The 3 litre has a longer stroke which helps with the torque, but as you say you need to spend more to get one in the first place, not sure if this works out cheaper than modifying a 2.8. You can't change the manifold on the 3.0 ...

I'm impressed at the mpg some are quoting for the 2.8. I was under the impression that my 3.0 should be more economical than the 2.8, but even on a run 30mpg (from the OBC which does seem to be fairly accurate compared to my brim to brim readings) seems about the most I get. I do glance at the OBC, but my mpg figures are calculated from brim to brim figures. I started doing it as soon as I got the car, just as a kind of history. I could be wrong, but it might be to do with the wheel sensors (ABS) as this is used as part of the system. It may also be that the car just needs a drive to clear it. Sorry for the OT, but why do buyers still labour under the misapprehension that having cash makes them a better buyer in a dealer's eyes?
