The error code could be showing that the sensor is reading out of range rather than the sensor itself has failed. I know that quite a few people have had problems with mice ( and rats ) nesting in their engine bays but nobody has yet suggested installing a cat as the solution

Neither the Sachs nor Bilstein B4 catalogue shows a shock absorber for the Z3 3.0. Bilstein just show a B6 shock against the 3.0. New shocks shouldn't change the ride height as that is governed by the springs rather than the shocks.

I replaced my rears with Sachs Sports Touring shocks that are basically the same as OEM.
