Re: Should I?

I'd agree totally with Sam. It's clearly a more fragile machine than a regular BMW, but it is eminently usable and within its designers' parameters, surprisingly practical. The centre console does wobble if you lean on it, so don't lean on it. As for the rest, it's nice to be surrounded by hand-stit...

Hi Jet, and happy new year to you too. Now you're scaring me! OK the Z1 is impractical as a production car, compared to a Z3 or MX-5 but it's hugely impressive as a concept car. As such, it tells you what the development team was thinking in a way the others can't emulate. If some Americans apprecia...

Re: Are UK Z1's undervalued ??

mobile.de has a high mileage one that looks good for 18990€ from a dealer and a low mileage private sale for 1000€ more. Isn't that roughly in line with UK values. I'm just surprised at how many hardly used examples are for sale. What a waste to own it but not to use it! What are the effects of the ...

KC Autocolour don't seem too concerned by this. They noted that the rubber washer under the hex bolt nearest to the crack was much more compressed than the others. We loosened all the bolts by about half a turn to relieve the tension on the plastic panels on each side of the car. The provisional est...

Today I have joined the cracked wing club. The crack is about 3 inches long so far. I'm taking it to a local repairer who did some work on Mrs Clarkson's Z1. I hope the crack doesn't spread further by then. At least I don't need to drive the Z1 over the weekend.

Is the taxi aggressor's insurer likely to pay for the more expensive, carbon wing? Since the OE alternative isn't available within a reasonable time, there would appear to be no alternative way for them to settle the claim promptly.

2-filament bulbs are 5/21w and I'm concerned about the heat that would be generated when 21w is being drawn whenever the sidelights are on. LED's draw much less current, so if I pinch the contacts, as you suggest, I won't risk damaging the lamp covers. There's also the little matter of the ease with...

The Z1 I bought was the third one I drove. One of the others had larger wheels that made it tramline quite badly. My car with standard 16 inch wheels feels much nicer, especially on badly maintained roads. It's quite surprisingly rigid for a 20 year old car without a roof - one positive effect of th...
