Go for heated seats. ;-) Note the aircon allows you to close the fresh air intakes. Ideal for 1) Traffic 2) Driving past the Duxford Pet Crematorium I have the 2.8 and would be interested in the Double VANOS fitted in the later cars (M54 engines). A hard top would be a pain to lug onto the car, and ...

Have you read up on parkers.co.uk? There I found a good range description. I think for the age you are talking about the smallest was a 6 Cylinder 2.2. Maybe check wether the 6 cyclinder engine is better for the auto box? You should go for heated seats, stereo upgrade (unless you have a plan do DIY)...

GPS in the z3
Hello As a second generation GPS user I know the TMC over RDS is a must in the Zed however of course the DIN slot has my EMPEG player in it. Have any of you used a PDA or smartphone and found it useable (sound and vision really of use) with the roof down? The sun doesn't shine by the rear view mirro...

Mine's a 97 R 2.8 and its showing its age, its leaking in the boot, I can't sort a stealth GPS install cos my ICE has the DIN slot, my sub is rattling, the drivers mirror isn't de-icing, my steering wheel is squeeking and the leather is wearing. It could go faster and be cleaner. I'm out of love wit...

There is a small clock that appears above the green lights when a service of the fluids is due, adds £80 ish to the dealer bill. Check the car is watertight, check the electrics (windows can stick, wing mirror and washer heaters can fail, boot lids can rust round the button, third brake lights can l...

Third brake light leaking
Hello on discovery of water it seems the third brake light is leaking I bought a set of 3 gaskets. Hass anyone taken and reassembled one of these mine has a bow and the clips are not engaging. I'm using two gaskets as the part will not be watertight with just one. Is there a better design or a way t...

Squeeky steering wheel
Hello Just this past week the Z3 has developed a squeal when turning the steering wheel I hope you here some suggestions? The squeak occurs the wheel is moved, not at only some angles or speeds but in all the angles of the time. It is as if there is grit in a part of the column just metal on metal s...

i do have a massive sound system for top down motoring but I turn it down in town. My car isn't poverty spec so the fog lamps are for lighing up Norfolk fog basins. I had been on the M25 and the rain was 'speed two' on the wipers. I remember my Saab improving the foward lighting in these conditions....

I have a MY97 n it has a battery backed up siren (standard). It makes a timid wee-woo noise and it is significantly quieter to the point i'd estimate around 60dBA instead of around 110dBA for the siren main. I hae a key for the alarm to deactivate it all, I should take it to my stealer at service ti...

Z3 Fog Lamps upgrade?
Hello I have had a SAAB and the fog lamps do what they should. The fog light should light a road and reflect through fog (off the road into the drivers eyes) creating transparency. This means a powerful lamp facing forward and pooling sideways too. The feeble fog lamps on the Z3 simply create a pudd...
