Strip and clean and check for piston smooth travel definitely advised. Replace discs. I use rapid detailer from Autoglym. I don't do shows but when the Z3 only comes out the garage once every one or two weeks it has a coating of dust and the rapid detailer does a quick and nice looking job.

I tend to use it as a mild degreaser under the bonnet as well.

It's good stuff.

That's a toughie. But only you know how much you want the cash against how much you want the car. Personally I wouldn't leave the car laid up without running it for 6 months a year on the road. Cars deteriorate when they're laid up. And what's the real point of having it just to leave it in a garage...

I've driven a Z3 M and while l agree that it's clearly a big step up (from the 3.0) it's not "a million miles, like comparing a youth hostal to the Hilton" Maybe your 3.0 was a bad one, or not the Sport version (which handles a fair bit better, l've owned both) l'd take the M in a heartbe...

I enquired to a dealer the other day about finding out the security code for the radio for the 2.2 project. I thought they had some sort of look up system. But he said they would need to put it on the diagnostics and retrieve it from there. Does that sound right? I have INPA so can I do it from there?

The sill covers have now been removed. They look a bit nasty here but that's nearly all dirt. The amount of dirt trapped at either end (and in the sills themselves) was considerable. Andy is in Woking so is nearer for you. He's 2.5 hours from you and I don't think that's excessive for a set of parts like this. They really wouldn't travel well if you had them posted either. Fragile plastic and the roll loops are very heavy. Not a good mixture. Not aware of any others up for sale....

If you're not already committed you are much better off paying a few quid more from Spurs Fan unless the other guy is much nearer to you for collection. Andy will give you a full set of screws.

One more don't forget. To plug the speaker cables in the lateral trim panel back in before further assembly. The article link posted has torque settings for the roll loop brackets. Wish I'd seen that before I did mine as I just tightened up by feel. My seats were out anyway. I would think it's a lot...

The very early cars had no mounting points. But I would think yours is not one of them. I believe you will need the lateral trim and cubby box as they are a different size on roll hoop cars. I've seen that article but it's a point in case in that it's not clear. On the one hand it looks like a straight forward mechanism swap and retain existing key barrel - which is easy enough and I've done before. On the other hand the guy is talking about spending big money on new keys isn't he?
