Re: THIS IS TEMPTING!

Oddly enough, it cost £10k, and I eventually sold it for £10k. So if there was the potential of a £10k bill leaping out at me, I would have been brave to ignore it. Call me sad if you want, but at the end of the day we all make decisions on the basis of the information available to us. Don't know if...

Re: THIS IS TEMPTING!

I had an 850 about ten years ago, and loved every minute. Absolutely lovely motor and obviously distinctive - I'd get people asking me what it was, on a daily basis. Yes, it was my daily driver and I would usually get something like 17, 18 mpg each fill up. I went to Scotland a few times in it and g...

Re: Got a BMW? Thicko thieves can EASILY NICK IT with $30 bo

After watching the Watchdog programme in September, and aslo proud owner of '57 plate M3, I phoned BMW - an 0800 number for this purpose. I was slightly taken aback when they told me that it might take 8 weeks for the local dealer to contact me. So now, some 20 weeks later, no contact so I enquired ...

Re: There is some justice in the world.

I'm incredibly paranoid about parking, so a few years ago, when I parked in a car park in Exeter I was comforted by the fact that there was a "Park Mark" logo outside. Parked on the top floor and noticed that the CCTV camera was pointed at the ticket machine. Returned to my car later, noti...

Inversnaid - lovely wee run. Used to do lovely meals at the hotel (probably still do) and the sandwiches are not too bad either (tried them at the end of last summer). Pity about the undulating/narrow road for a fair bit of the way from Aberfoyle.

Read an article recently, sorry can't remember where, that suggested that skid pan training is not good. What it does, allegedly, is give confidence. That, allegedly, has the effect that people will drive faster and then come unstuck. I don't necessarily agree with it, but just thought I'd share it.

Don't know if it's still the same but there used to be a section of four lane road between Ayr or Kilmarnock and Glasgow, where there was a spell a few years ago of drivers getting done for doing 70 in a 60. They clearly thought it was 'dual', despite there not being a strip of land between the lanes.
