luckily the second hand coil pack has fixed the misfire problem for me. for now at least. i got a few codes (as robert describes above), most of which were a caused by the misfire or by my attempts to diagnose it. havent got to the bottom of the inlet manifold error code, but it doesn't seem to be p...

I have mine illegaly spaced, but only on the front. the chance of plod being in a position to see the front and then pull you is much smaller than them seeing the rear one and pulling you. nice and legal on the back :) only time this theory failed was when i a ticket with the car parked in the stree...

haha, sorry. To save buying ramps you could get axle stands, mine were £16 from motor world, or put something suitably sturdy under the sill when its on the jack (i use the wheel if i'm doing something involving removing a wheel. or theres always this: http://www.vicphysics.org/documents/teachers/Ho...

Also - first time i did it i removed the entire sump guard (plastic cover under the engine bay). and then discovered afterwards that there is a handy flap that can be removed to access the sump.

The traditional way is to drain from the sump underneath which involves jacking up the car. i personally will not get under my car on a jack. if it falls the gap between car floor and ground is smaller than my head :shake: I do mine on ramps, draining from the sump plug (needs the correct square so...

on my 1.9 it takes about £15 to get it from empty to 1/2 full, and then another £45 to get it to full. So sometimes i think i'm doing well, then it hits 1/2 way and plummets. once its at 1/4 i'm looking for a petrol station!

Picked up a pack off a 318 for £20 this morning.

Fitted. fixed. for now at least :D

Seems so simple/obvious now, but im glad i didnt just start replacing stuff and did my homework first.

now if only i didn't have loads of work to do and i could :drive

thanks. good to know what engines i can get parts from.

i'll try my local scrappy tomorrow, failing that i'll pick the best of the above! £21 inc postage seems to be the going rate.

i'm assuming mine is oem and not been replaced. its black and looks like an aerial.

what does good condition consist of? i've never really considered the condition of my aerial.

Quite a trip! A few niggles to sort out, but it will all be worth it! :D As for the roof, mine was pretty bad too. Have a look at my first ever thread here : http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36833 This was achieved using the autoglym kit, half a day, and a lot of elbow grease.

Just been out with maf disconnected. Perhaps marginally better. Seems less predictable, but definitely still present. My misfire is getting worse! On the way home from work, once it got fully warmed up, it was consistently rough as toast, and sounded like a harley. It started under acceleration just at 1600-1900 revs, then crept in at other rev ranges, now its everywhere. Cant find any intake leaks. Plugs replaced....

i would have got a new boot & hoses, but it involves the mersey tunnel and navigating liverpool, so i went for sealing to see if it had effect, with a plan to get the parts in the not too distant future.

i'll let you know what the car GP diagnoses.

i took the intake block off, (why does it always need a tool you don't have?! :roll: had to go and buy an 11mm spanner as i couldn't get a socket over the back nut), the hoses all seemed pretty decent, except the boot and the pipe joined to the boot, so i cleaned them up and sealed them with silicon...

Right. A little write up for people as mechanically minded as myself, i.e. i'm not useless but am new to pretty much everything. This is my method, and it worked, if theres better methods i'm all ears. In total it took maybe 6 hours, to a more experienced mechanic 3-4 hrs i'd guess. at £40ish labour...

Tread very similar to the Avon ZZ3 i have used for a few years, probably a dam sight cheaper too. Don't know how much the Avons are but the fronts [225/45] were £79.80 and the rears [245/40] were £89.88.
