there is a steel exhaust bracket in the vicinity of the gearbox which can break with age/rust. This is what happened on my 2.2i ........... I also used the chap in Coventry. Well worth it as he put in a complete new rear window after mine was Stanley knifed and
he also stitched up some of the missing threads. This was two and a half years ago and it is still all good.

Tesco's quite often have it at half price, which is when I purchase mine for £1.98.
I have used it in many of my vehicles, it certainly has done them no harm and from
reports published seems to do some good.

Dare say it is metal that has no insulation material round it.
Try it again but cover it with earth wire covering .........

Mine was exactly the same, full length crack and it was just about holding onto the peg.

A quick and temporary fix with black insulation tape wrapped round several times and
it is a very snug fit back on.
