Try here. I had really poor reception until I found the centre wire of the coax was touching the ground (on the connector at the rear of the redio). Do you or did you get a small spark when you connected the cable at the rear of the car?

Perhaps you should first make up your mind - are you using a pressure bleeder or a device which draws a vacuum in the braking system?
