It gives about the same performance as the 2 litre engine, and is also able to take a pair of Kent 312R camshafts, which will transform the car into a 2.2 equivalent, and with a decent cylinder head job too it would probably stay with a 2.8 to about 80 mph. Assuming that I can make it, I expect I'll put a few 2 litre soft drinks bottles in the boot, refilled with water to rinse the worst bits off. Once it has a decent coat of wax on it the water runs off pretty quickly, then a quick squirt of detailing spray does the job with light dust. On the other h...

Thanks for this link. Just to add to the knowledgebase, mine wasn't listed as having a hardtop prep and it doesn't have it. I actually bought the fitting kit with the secondhand roof together and AFAIK there is no wiring apart from the cable that feeds the power hood. I wish this sort of information...

Thanks very much Dave. I think it might be a question of needing different cable (D-can?) for the later Mini...I'd hoped that as it's a 56 plate it would come under the 2007 limit for the cable I have. I'll email just to get confirmation though, thanks again.

Yes there is a drain plug, the refill plug is a bit awkward to get to, so find a length of tubing to run to the engine bay from the gearbox, then a cheap funnel to help direct the oil. Make sure you can undo the refil plug before draining the gearbox.

I just took my hard top off ready for an early morning run down to Goodwood tomorrow (Supercar Sunday). Best you can do is check carefully all the wiring and particularly the connectors. Looking good now. If you put the protective film on the bonnet/front end, then be aware that it's quite visible to see where it stops IMHO.
