Wind deflector

Is there a way of stopping the wind deflector from rising into position as the hood comes up?

Newbie question - pre / post facelift?

I've been reading some posts on this issue and am a little confused. I have a 97 2.8 which I presume is a pre facelift wide body. I'm just wondering what the post facelift Zed looks like. If someone could direct me to some pics of the various models I'd be grateful. I've seen very few 2.8 and 3.0 mo...

I've owned almost 40 cars over the years, all manual except for my e39 (only available as steptronics here in Australia). It did take me a while to adapt to it, but now I would go for a steptronic every time (even though the Zed is manual). I drive the stepronic e39 as a manual and the gear changes ...

Strange noise and vibration when braking

I generally only notice this noise when I'm slowing down gently from 50-60 kmh in town. It is quite subtle and comes from the front wheels. It is sort of a cross between a wheel bearing noise but feels like something is grinding. I can't hear or feel anything at speed or higher revs because of the e...

Got the wristwatch - its analogue! Also keeping the clock as it is part of OBC, which I don't want to lose.

I took the zed to my BMW specialist today. He reckons that it has M-Tech suspension. There are new Bilsteins up front, rear shocks still working correctly but showing signs of age. He says the old tyres on the back could also be causing some discomfort as the sidewalls harden with age. Everything el...

IMHO the tan roof looks great, but my wife is of the opinion that black would suit the car better. Now we have a recipie for endless debate!

I also think it is the best colour combination. Now I need to see if I can clean up the tan roof which has black marks all over it.

Newbie - love the Zed, hate the ride. Help please

I've just taken delivery of my Dark Green 2.8. Fine driving it around Sydney and 400Km up the highway. But ............ now that I'm driving on our local roads, which are more like patchwork quilts than main roads the Zed feels like it has no suspension, especially compared to my E39 528 with sports...

Driver's handbook / manual for 2.8

Does anyone know of a link to a 97 2.8 manual pdf? I've seen one for a 3.0 but not the earlier model. Thanks in advance.

And we have a lot more sunshine than snow here. I guess there was also a fair difference between the new car prices as well.

The price of living in the ex colonies

It's a bit depressing to see how cheap cars are in the UK. Seems like the average price for a 97 2.8 is about 5,000 pounds (A$8,000). I've just bought a 2.8 with 78,000 klms (about 50,000 miles) which cost me A$23,500 (about 15,000 pounds) after some hard bargaining - and that's about as cheap as yo...

Digital to analogue clock

Robert. I agree it would be a pity to lose the OBC - I have to admit I that when I test drove the 2.8 I assumed a clock not OBC. So I'll wait until I pick up the car to see what I really have. Dave that's exactly right - the same as in an e30 I had many years ago - BM number 6 (I'm now up to 10) Peter

Digital to analogue clock

Thanks for your welcome Dave. Apart from being hard to read it also looks out of place with the rest of the cockpit. I take delivery of my 2.8 in a week - then I'll post some pics. Pity I found this forum after I bought my car as there is some good info here about known issues - I'm keeping my finge...

Digital to analogue clock

Hello from Australia

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the digital clock in a 97 2.8 with the analogue clock from the late e30?
