I plan on driving as much as the law in the US will allow and that's 2,500 miles per year. Most people in the US have never seen a Z1. It's always fun to see their face when the door goes down. Alfa 156? Both the 1.8 Twinspark and 2.4JTD are peppy. And the 156 is more reliable than the 147, which has a deservedly dreadful reputation.

VW Bora? Can be had with the intriguing V5 engine for that price.

Does the aerofoil on the exhaust really make such a major difference to the aerodynamics/stability? I've now done some 16,000 kms in my Z1 which has the quad-pipe Lorenz exhaust system (which has no aerofoil). Yes I cannot see what is wrong with the seats either. Wouldn't be my first choice but they are less offensive than the standard ones in my view.

Course for real taste you need all-lemon leather ones like Jet's or all-black leather ones like mine! :lol: 8-)

It's not an investment, but it shouldn't depreciate significantly either provided you don't pay over the odds for a low mileage car and then use it frequently.

I have a recurring issue with the driver's side electric wing mirror in that the damn thing keeps ceasing operations. It's not a major problem but it is just a bit irritating. Twice now, the switch on the dash has been replaced (not expensive thankfully) and each time that fixes the problem. However...

Munich Legends ought to know what they are doing with the doors.

They stripped mine down and refreshed all the mechanisms and, so far, in 18 months and 14,000 kms (touch wood) the doors have not given any trouble at all.

Hmm can't remember the exact details but I did it in Halfords car park without difficulty or resort to the handbook so it ought to be reasonably simple. As I recall, Halfords fitting chart for bulbs does include the Z1.

The 'space waster' became a life saver when I had a blow out on the motorway (thanks to a nice chunk of metal in the road) and lost the side wall of a rear tyre.
