The jury's still out on to what extent mine underwent a Lorenz fettling in Germany in the past.

It's certainly has the quad pipes and as originally mentioned at the top of this thread, it feels friskier than the other Z1s I tried.

I've been on the North Weald day. Had an A3 1.8T quattro at the time and managed to send it into the most almighty tankslapper attempting one of the manouevres they set you, much to the amusement of onlookers.

If it got the full Lorenz treatment it could have included the 2.7 conversion and LSD. Does it have a front strut brace? They included that as well ... Hey TeaTray, Funny you should say that but I thought it was just my Z1 that had a pattern bonnet fitted in the past, as the compound crumbles as I tried to screw in the washer tubes, it definitely resembles fibreglass, if that is the case, I dont recall Fibreglass ever having this "spring"...

The bonnet is made of fibreglass rather than the thermoplastic on the wings is it not?

At least it looked like fibreglass when I drilled a hole in it...

Does this mean TVRs and things suffer similarly?

Cool - thanks. Roughly what I thought since my car appears to have been religiously serviced every 10,000 kms.

It has just chalked up 10,000kms since the last service (an Inspection II) so I think I'll get an oil service done when I'm in London at the start of July.

Concur with the S3 suggestion. I had one before the Z1 and it was a perfect all-round car for someone without a family. Very tunable too. I also have an Allroad and it's a pretty strong contender for the practicality award, esp if unlike me (!) you got the economical 2.5TDi. They are really very cap...

Any temp provided the scarf and coat are warm enough. The heater is surprisingly effective. It needs to be above 20 degrees though for it to be bearable with the doors down as well. Good tip from Harris about not touching anything red! I like it. Since I am thin and have long legs in proportion to my overall height, I find it easy to hop in and out, but most people don't. With the roof on, I tend to use the edge of the windscreen and the side of the door opening to lever myself...

Sounds like it might be more expensive second time around!

Something like that but I'd want a darker earthier red - more oxblood -than that.

Although am more keen on the idea of a dark tan - sort of cognac-coloured. Reckon that could look quite nice with the green bodywork.
