It's a bit of a con really as all it seems to do is pump air down the exhaust. It doesn't reduce the engine emissions, just dilutes it with air for less PPM.
Quite an expensive part to replace if it fails. And they do!

I have an Apline CDE-9881R. It works flawlessly with my 2nd generation iPod Photo, but comes up with the charging error message when I plug in my new iPhone 3Gs. The Alpine still controls the iPhone just as well though. I thought I might have to replace the head unit to get the charging back until I...

The basic problem with headsets is that the day you most need it, is the day you forget to charge it, so I recommend full car kits such as CK-7W. I had two CS-7Ws, one in the ///M and one in the 530. They work great with Nokia handsets, but really hit and miss with other brands. Blackberry not good...

An impact driver works wonders on risky hex-head or cross-head bolts/screws. Just be careful how much welly you give it.

? The problem is you have a min lowering value on any kind of coilovers and most of them is min 25mm Where did you get that idea from, that's rubbish. My adjusters on the rear will let me raise 30mm above standard if I wanted What he is referring to is the fact that most coilover systems specify a ...

Taking the seat out and replacing the bushings is the only proper way to fix the problem. By the way; the reason that I make the bushings overly thick is because they must fit snugly between the carrier and the adjusting nut. Since the bushing carriers and adjusting nuts are cast parts, they will n...

Common sources of rear end rattles. 1. Rear shock mounts - BMW OEM units wear and rattle and very occasionally fail leading to a strut sticking through your soft top. OK, after one week living with the new under-carriage I can confirm a few things. The initial "you can feel the road under you", which I would now call harshness, is gone. You get used to the feel pretty quick, and what felt a little stiff to being with now feels no more harsh than stock. ...

I have been thinking about a suspension upgrade for quite a while now and having done the due diligence came to the conclusion that while I wanted an upgraded setup, I didn’t really need a coilover setup. The general consensus across the various BMW bulletin boards is that for a ‘standard’ setup, Bi...
