Pat, sorry to hear of your sump woes. I have a spare sump if yours is deemed unrepairable. I think it's under the bed in the spare room, as one does with spares.

Excellent thought/reminder on the fuel lines. I replaced mine perhaps 6 years ago and the originals were hardened and almost brittle. Fairly easy if somewhat messy DIY.
And nice extinguishers - ideal would be a mount just under the front of passenger seat.

In theory, yes. In reality, probably not. I had a LHD car with a KM speedo that passed 7 MOTs without comment. And many Z1 owners have cars without side indicator repeaters that pass their MOTs without a problem.

I'm think that the column support will remain firmly in place but the shaft could be pushed up through the column bearings towards the driver. Worst case scenario for sure but it strikes me as an unnecessary risk to take.

I believe 5W40 full synthetic is recommended however I would not be surprised if you get a variety of answers. Changing the oil on a regular basis to avoid sludge build up is best and you can use a mineral oil on a temp basis to use as a cleaning agent. Be sure to change the 2 small 0 rings in the ...

The autotreff ad is from 2005 so it's probably sold by now. :) The dhd24 ad is almost 3 years old - did they give any indication that they still have the part? The ebay ad says collection only - I can understand that since finding packaging for something as large and fragile as a bumper is not easy.

Yup, what he said. Try swapping switches left and right. From memory the clips on the surround that hold the switch in place are delicate and may snap off. The good news is that the surround is still available (or at least it was a few years ago - ask me why I know?!).

I'll bring a set of toe gauges to the tech day. I have a camber/caster gauge as well but that needs a perfectly flat floor to be accurate.

I agree with Jet - all the E30 325i variants use the same cylinder head, known as the 885 head named after the casting number. That said good ones are getting hard to find - many high mileage heads have cracked.

I just double checked my Bentley manual for the E30 3 series and can confirm that it states caster is not adjustable and that camber can only be adjusted by changing the strut mount to a different BMW part. So 99.9% sure that any shop that's claiming to having adjusted the camber or caster is tellin...

Camber and castor are not adjustable on the Z1 - that both measurements were off to begin with and then both ended up exactly the same left and right seems hard to believe. Headlamps only work with the ignition on. With the ignition on do the headlamps and/or the fresh air fan work? If no my first guess is the ignition switch (assuming the battery really is OK - can you check it with a volt meter?). If they do is the immobiliser playing up?
