Good to see you back, Mike. :) I dont like the idea of fogging my box as I want to keep it reversable. The effects Mike mentioned in his knowledgebase thread are very pronounced in practice, and I wouldn't revert to stock unless I was selling the car. I have done this procedure without cutting into ...

If it were fitted incorrectly (teeth on the zip not lined up correctly) you would see kinks in the screen. Sounds like you just need to persuade it to fold properly for a while, after time you'll find it will adapt. I was wondering the same when I fitted mine, as it did exactly what you described. N...

Increasing the size of the rims will make the ride harsher, which will pass on more work to the bushes in the suspension, and they will end up wearing faster. To be honest, it's not an issue if the roads around you are in good condition but I've yet to find a stretch of road in the south east where ...

Zaino do indeed recommend this, but I'd be hesitant to use it. Admittedly, Meguiars Gold Class shampoo that many on this forum use (myself included) contains common salt as well as Fairy liquid. However the concentrations of common salt and other ingredients varies greatly. In comparison: - Meg's an...

If you value your paint work, don't use fairy liquid. It contains a very high salt content which is highly detrimental to paint in general, especially if it gets under any paint chips caused by grit. Instead use a double dose of car shampoo in hot water, and give it a few washes. Alternatively use t...

Renovo roof proofing agent is the best you can get. Google it and it should be about £25. As for car cleaning, start off by getting hold of a microfibre wash mitt (turtle wax make a good green one), meguiars gold class shampoo and meguiars step 3 carnauba wax. The above are all available at Halfraud...

I quite fancy the idea of using a wax you can apply by hand to rub it on, would autoglym HD wax be suitable? The wax I suggested is applied by hand or by applicator. - Ditch the sponge and get a microfibre cleaning mitt (turtlewax green mitt from halfords is an example) as sponges are a paint killer. They do not lift the dirt and grit away from the bodywork when cleaning, unlike the washmitts mentioned, instead they keep it in contact with the paint and cause sm...

Is that an application and leave for an hour then buff off? Exactly that. And it wasn't dumb at all, I should have explained it a bit clearer. Make sure to apply to a cloth first, it has an almost water-like consistency (this time no foam applicators! ), and apply to the paint in thin layers....

I just use cotton detailing cloths from halfords, not microfibre ones, to apply and then buff off with the Meg's Microfibre cloths. If I'm using a polish that contains a cutting compound (Scratch X or AutoGlym SRP) then I'll bring out a foam applicator.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics/GSD3's, Michelin PS2's or Toyo Proxes are the most talked about on here. You would do yourself (and other road users) a great service by replacing the old ones and fitting a set of tyres of that quality. It isn't an isolated incident, so until you get them changed it wi...

:head: :head: :head: T- Cut does more damage than it repairs. It should never be used. Instead try Meguiars Scratch X or Autoglym Super Resin Polish. They both contain abrasives that breakdown as you work them into the paint, which allows for a finer end result if a polish is needed. In this case, i...

Going by the description above, I'd hede a bet that a full respray is in order as I don't know of anyway to remove the clear coat without damaging the paint beneath. To remove the current coat of lacquer would involve sanding down, which would also dig into the paint layer slightly meaning a respray...

The money you end up saving by only doing half the car, not stripping it out and fully respraying it, you will lose come sale time IMHO.
