Re: New Project - Breaking Z3 1.9 artic silver narrow body

Well that looks pretty much the same as mine, which does have ASC, except for only having 5 pipes attached to the valve block instead of my 6. The pump on mine only says ASC, but the control board case says ABS+ASC - see http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=331975#p331975 I take it that t...

Re: New Project - Breaking Z3 1.9 artic silver narrow body

Hi, Not sure how far you are stripping the car, but would you have the ABS pump for sale? Part No 34511164333. It would be good to know if there were any fault codes showing related to the ABS also; and I understand I might need the original VIN to be able to recode the pump to my car (althought I m...

Re: Anyone Else took advantage?

Agree with you on the diesel, the cheaper the better. That's what our every day drivers get.

The idea of my little experiment was to check if one actually would pay "extra" for the premium fuel and however crude it was it looks as if there may not be an extra to pay! :)

Re: Anyone Else took advantage?

Was out on Friday along the "Military Road" (A6318) which runs roughly from Newcastle to Carlisle. Several detours taken and had the roof down for about 6 hours although it was a bit chilly by the time we got home. On a slightly different angle, I have a 2.8,after filling up last weekend I...

Thomas, So pleased to hear that you made the trip across to the lakes. Your intro message explained how you came to the the carer of this Z3 and whilst the circumstances are sad it's good that you can remember your Dad each time you drive the car. Continue to enjoy it, they are meant to be used. If ...

See under Terms and Conditions....... but you guessed that!! Perhaps in NZ the Z3 is seen a little differently or maybe the dealers don't charge so much for their services and have to find other things to make them laugh :) .

Re: What did you buy your Z3 this week ?

Thanks for the information Del. I bought the car last October and I understood that it had only covered 700 miles in the previous year. The last service was in 2010 (3,000 miles ago) and the last recorded brake fluid change was in 2007 (15,000 miles ago) so new fluid was on the "must do" l...

Many thanks to those who took time to respond to my post. Well I certainly expected that the advice would be to use it and I fully understand the sentiment. We live in the edge of the Pennines and, whilst this winter was mild and we have not had any real snow, in recent years we have had snow and ic...

Re: What did you buy your Z3 this week ?

Front brake callipers, discs and pads as the originals had seized! Some vibration front the front since I bought the car last October and after laying up for 3 months it only got worse. They were fitted today and the car also had a oil change service plus new brake fluid and a tank of Shell V-power ...

Re: Led lamps for high/low beams

In the e-bay listing the details show only 3 leds are behind the projector lens the rest area on the sides. A normal bulb also emits light from the sides, Yes, quite agree a normal bulb does emit light from the sides, however, the source is not the glass but the filament which is very small when co...

In the e-bay listing the details show only 3 leds are behind the projector lens the rest area on the sides. My opinion is these are for projector headlamp units and not suitable as standard Z3 replacements. Anybody know better?

Just a comment on language. Brake Rotor is American English for Brake Disc, much like fender = wing, hood = bonnet, rocker box = sill etc. We remain two nation divided by a common language and long may it remain that way. Wave the flag by all means and lets accept that "Johnny foreigner" h...

Re: radio code question

Thanks very much. Your explanation of the first press being zero is really useful. I expect it is like most things, when you know how it's easy. and in this case the manual is a little misleading = totally wrong!! Thanks again.

Re: radio code question

The BMW Radiopass for the BMW Business CD Car Radio (model BP8272) fitted in my 1999 Z3 contains the number 8 in three positions. The handbook clearly explains the method of code input using the station buttons(1-6) with the following example; "if the first digit is 4 press station key 4"....

Re: Tyres - which ones from where?

You also asked where to buy . I had to replace a punctured tyre on our daily car. Best high street price was from National at £206 (yes for one). I bought from Black Circles for £125 and had it fitted at the main dealers ship for a £5 premium. So I would certainly check prices with them again and be...

I pondered on 2.0ltr, 2.2ltr or maybe 2.8ltr for some time. Cost of running is so similar that there is no reason not to buy a 2.8ltr. Go for it and enjoy!
