I know this sounds silly but: If you hold the key onto your head and press the button it increases the distance of operation and presumably magnifies the signal

When the ignition is turned on, the service interval display is at it's normal brightness, but the mileage and trip displays have gone very dim making them almost impossible to see in daylight. Any suggestions or is this going to be an expensive fix at the dealers :?: JUST DRIVE AT NIGHT :roflmao:

Yeh, if you mean the side windows, kiwi is correct, or if they are nylon cords like mine you may have lost the metal securing tag which fastens to a spring, they let go sometimes, just replaced mine. better than getting fouled in the hinges.
