Cotswold Cruise - with a difference.

Post by Phil »

On Saturday 14th August I am arranging a day out with a difference.
For those also interested in making a weekend of it there is the BMWCC event at Gaydon. This is the largest event of its kind in the UK

Below is an outline of the weekend which was originally designed for BMWCC members but it is now open to any member of this forum.
There are various options available and it is totally flexible.
For instance you could do the drive only.
You could do the evening dinner cruise only

I have reserved 32 places on The Countess of Evesham and 20 of these are already taken.
Please let me know what you are interested in doing. I will take the first 12 for the dinner cruise and need a £10 a head deposit

Saturday 14th August (the day before National Club event)
Meet Gaydon and morning drive around Cotswolds.

Lunch at The Pheasant - Charlecote
http://www.foliohotels.com/charlecoteph ... /index.htm

Afternoon visit to Charlecote house
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-charlecotepark
or visit to Stratford upon Avon

Evening dinner cruise on The Countess of Evesham
http://www.countessofevesham.mistral.co.uk/

Overnight at The Pheasant

Sunday attend club event at Gaydon with display of Zs

Hi Phil,

Please put myself and my wife down for the drive and lunch etc. only on the Saturday.
She doesn't like boats so we wont be doing the dinner cruise.

Thanks

Would my Z1 and I be able to join you for soup and sandwich at the Pheasant and to go to Charlecote?
I hope it's not too late to join. If it is, I'll just come up to Charlecote Park.
I need to get back to the Banbury area for Saturday evening anyway.

Had about 18/19 cars on a wet drive. Some cars got muddy  -- well actually all of them did. Did manage some top down driving between showers though.
Now home, washed the car ready for tomorrow at Gaydon and have to set off again soon to go on the dinner cruise tonight.
Pictures later cos I know some were taken

It was good to meet you all yesterday at the Pheasant. It lloks as if you have better weather for the Gaydon event today.
I'm working today so I still have one very travel-stained Z1 in my garage.

Thanks to Phil and everyone else who organized Saturdays run.
I enjoyed it, but unfortunately my other half didn't, I think she would have preferred it if we had Captain Slow leading. :(

I thought the run had a very modest pace :?

That was still too fast for my wife.
It was our first ever run, and it was a bit of a shock for her, she also has a bad back and going quickly over some of the bumpier roads was causing her quite a bit of pain.

Again, many thanks to Phil & Marise for an excellent cruise.
It was great to meet some new members and see some old faces.

Shame about the weather but at least the ultimate heavy rain did wash off most off the cow muck

A couple of pics from one of the drier moments

As for the speed, I recall being passed by a couple of cyclists ..

As per previous posts, a big thanks to Phil and Marise for getting the Z Register together for a meet

I made the the morning run. It was good to catch up with friends old and new

here are a few of my photos ...

Saturday afternoon I tried to find a Jet Wash to clean the car down.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find one and had to wash the car in the hotel car park.
Whilst washing the car, there was a torrential downpour, with thunder and lightning (see photo below, giving an idea of how heavy it was)
